Today’s gift

For us…

Awake! Crack open an eye

As another day dawns

Don’t think twice or wonder why

Stretch! Stifle those yawns 🥱

Life is too sweet to miss a moment.

‘Cos Today’s a gift

C’mon… don’t ignore it!

Don’t allow it to drift

Enjoy ev’ry bit!

*

So, you’re Sick, Sorry or Sore…

Turn your back on Today.

Wait! Stop! Don’t you slam the door!

It’s gonna be Okay!

Life’s far too short to skip a morning.

*

Abandoned, ditched by your ‘friend’

Cold shoulder… back turned

Perplexing to comprehend

Life lessons are learned…

Life’s too brief to squander those moments.

‘Cos Today’s a gift

C’mon… open it!

Time to heal a rift…

Don’t give up and quit!

*

Stress gnaws a hole in your soul

Devouring its prey

Demanding, stealing control

Don’t yield to its sway.

Life’s too precious to waste in torment!

*

It’s your first day on the job…

Nerves twist, tangle and tie.

Deep breaths foil their pow’r to rob

Grin and wave them ‘Goodbye’.

This is your Life, claim ev’ry moment!

‘Cos Today’s a gift

C’mon… open it!

Just make it swift…

Lickety split!

*

Celebrate any victory

Over doubts, despair.

Shift the spotlight off misery.

Hope, shyly waits elsewhere

Enrich your Life, Hope sure is potent.

*

So, you’re alive, full of beans

Jump out of your bed…

devour fruit, yoghurt… even some greens!

Leap into ‘Today’ instead

Seize Life’s ev’ry little minute.

*

‘Cos Today’s a gift

C’mon… open it!

Time flies ever so swift

Enjoy, don’t waste it!

*

Though dull days drearily drag

Chores nag to be done

Energy levels wane and lag

Tomorrow, let’s laze in the sun…

Life is a treasure trove of moments.

*

It’s holiday time, so travel

To mountains or sea

Try hard not to unravel…

The world calls “Come, see!”

Preserve Life’s golden memories.

‘Cos Today’s a gift

C’mon… open it!

Who ignores a gift?

Only a fool would neglect it!

*

Embrace every ‘Today’

like your ‘Long Lost Friend’

Don’t dare let it get away

Too soon, it will end.

Savour, soak, swim in Life’s sweet moments!

*

Tomorrow mightn’t show his face

Yesterday is past, do not yearn

Cherish Life’s gift all your days

‘Today’ is here …. and won’t return.

*

Definitely appreciate the opportunity to read this today! With the combination of bleak weather and a persistent headache I was certainly failing to recognize the gift of today! Thank you for the encouragement toward gratitude, Angie!!

This was super upbeat and the sun is shining here in Blighty and I'm going to take your advice! Invigorating! I loved this line because it describes it so perfectly: "Stress gnaws a hole in your soul"

  • Ah no wonder it seemed very lyrical to me. This was very uplifting!
