Threads Of Hope In A Tattered World

A Plea for Nature's Sanctuary

Let me shelter you from

the universal fiery shout,

My tired umbrella has become

as tattered as the ozone layer without a doubt.

*****

Nature’s capricious environment is as erratic,

As an airplane flying into grey cumulonimbus clouds.

Tremors rack my very core, for your well-being, in this problematic

Challenging world, so full of fickle crowds.

******

A kaleidoscope of unknown dangers lurks

In every direction like sparks from a wild fire.

Man, animal, Mother Nature’s vengeful work.

’Tis like a chameleon hiding from its prey, lashing out unabashed desire.

******

My velvet touch hopes to inspire, to take care.

For my dreams are of visuals of you alive and well,

That my wisdom will keep you aware,

Stagnant scents are coiling around us like a venomous snakes from hell.

******

Can you not see the damage I wear?

My heart has been ripped out,

Soul exposed, it’s too much to bear.

My silent cries lost in the wind’s shout.

*******

It’s a man-eating world that is as fragile

As a newly spun spider’s web.

Listen to your inner compass and stay agile,

For you will need to learn how to flow in life’s ebb.

*******

It is a delicate path, my sprout,

That you must glisten and blossom in.

There are many a black hearts out there, all about,

Soiling our mystical green, killing our kin.

*******

Do not be hypnotized from a nightgale’s song.

All have their own whispered blueprints.

Heed my warnings; it’s your life’s breath I am trying to prolong!

*******

Reside beside me int this mossy corner of this grassy lands.

Serene solitude is our reward that should not be ignored.

Don’t you hear the jarring metal clashing, with man’s destructive demands?

Our enchanted gardens are a developer’s reward.

*****

Gone will be our nature home,

Where the bees pollinate our flowers,

And tiny beetles and other insects freely roam,

Where we all do the happy dance under the Spring rain showers.

******

Grey pungent concrete will be poured

On our lands like the waves crawling up on a hot sandy shores,

Shiny gunmetal steel laying down on our ground with a roar.

Man’s infatuation with more, and more and more, the constant wars.

******

Stay as quiet as you can

and hope to God

that we can live our short life in quiet peace with man.

********

Where do you find hope? I find hope when out walking; I stumble upon nature’s beauty, such as this Mushroom with a heart-shaped dent hanging over a smaller mushroom. Not all is awful in the world, yet we have to be watchful, live a little, or be aware of our surroundings. To nurture our young while it looks exciting out in the big world, to listen to the inner wisdom they were raised with, and my hope for my young adult children is that I have done what I can to keep them following the wisdom as their compass.

I share your thoughts of life! Your eloquence speaks the sad truth about the declining state of our planet. I do what I can and am thankful to live on a nature preserve, surrounded by a forest full of life. From the tree tops to the creatures within the moss that cushions my soul, nature nurtures.

Beautiful piece! Has such a wonderful flow, and I related to many of the lines. SO much food for thought here. And I love your note at the end. I also find hope in nature. Many of us forget that we are nature, and our reconnection to all that we have come from is healing. Congrats on top story!
