The Spiral
Dream: Wonderland Poetry Prompt Challenge Day 13
I wandered
wraith-like
aimlessly
up
stairs
down
deserted
school halls.
The start of Term 2
without
a Class Timetable
in sight!
It feels like I’m Lost!
Yes!
Someone
gave me
a job
and
a bed
to wheel along
as transport
(obviously)!
Off
I tootled off
to ‘English’
where
fellow classmates
milled about
cast adrift
in an ocean
of confusion
Rudderless!
To The Office!
we would head!
But…
I soon
fell behind
because of
the unwieldy bed
which
between
one breath
and
the next
trickily
transformed
into
my brother’s
‘new’ car
an old ‘AE 86’
(Whatever that is!)
The ‘Office Boy’
was
totally useless!
I remembered him
from Year 6.
School
was nearly over
almost
3 o’clock!
I began to spiral
dOwn
DowN
D0Wn
into
shOck!
Then
BRZZ! BRZZ! BRZZ!
The school
The students
The vacant stairs
DiSs0lvEd
along with
all
Of my cares…
A wide yawn
sleepily spread
across
my face
With
a relieved
sigh…
I
rolled
out of bed
to
greet
the day…
For Real!

Very surreal! And quite a ride! I get school dreams of a different kind...
There are few things worse in dreamland than returning again and again to those not so hallowed halls. Wonderful poem, Angie! Good luck on the challenge!
Sounds like an action-packed thriller. 😊
What a topsy-turvy dream! Isn't it strange how people we haven't seen in forever can show up in our dreams?
