You Are

remembering that moment of falling in love

You are

The autumn sun

Lighting my sorry soul,

Warm, caressing,

Bearing the promise of a past not yet faded,

A future not yet conceived.

I don’t recognise

The craziness that has come to possess me.

I see only

The raw beauty of your smile,

The quiet tenderness of your eyes.

And I am dazzled.

Wanting nothing more than

To taste your warm mouth on my lips,

To smell your sweet, spicy scent upon my skin,

To bury myself deep within you and believe that

This time will never end.

Our bodies stitched together

We lie beneath

A shimmering sky of golden leaves,

As radiant and as fragile

As I feel

In your arms.
