I hear the monster under my bed.
I see its image inside my head.
It always appears to be eerie,
never not dark and dreary.
It has bright, shiny red eyes.
People say it's in my mind.
No matter how hard I try,
its image always makes me cry.
The monster always makes me fear
that someday soon, I won't be here.
After a while, I open my eyes.
Soon after that, the sun will rise.

I created this based on some nightmares I have had many times, especially recently. It was difficult to put it into words. I definitely miss being able to easily write.

Nightmares are tough. This was a really interesting look at a nightmare. Well done.
This was a very intriguing expression of a real nightmare, especially if it was difficult to put into words. I think that we all have those images that we grapple with, that scares us so much that we have a hard time conveying it. The most relatable line, I think, is “People say it’s in my mind.”
