The dog of eternity

A poem on disasters and the weirdos who celebrate them

An act of God, stole the water,

And sent it back again

The sirens blare but don’t be scared! tsunamis are our friends

*

Father had a heart attack

When no help was around

He laid right down to die on the playground

The little girl in the toddler swing begged him to get up

But when she stopped screaming the sun kept baking and that was her bitter cup

*

Hurricanes poured out their hate upon the shivering East

Mean while fires raged throughout the West and charred the city streets

And all the land shook and crumbled as the fault lines finally broke

While the doom-cult’s eyes reveled in the feast of disasters round the globe

*

And a little homeless boy shares some food with a little homeless dog

The puppy loves him and he loves it back despite its slavering jaws

They cuddle close throughout the night to fight against the cold

But the well-loved dog is rabid so the boy will not grow old

*

Sometimes the Lord giveth in order to take away

When the Faithful watch the pain with glee they herald judgment day

*

And for these strange gluttons all catastrophes are a joy

They circle up like vultures and pray to be God’s favorite hated toy

These misanthropes quickly forget that God is only love

And they glory in evils they think to be anger from above

Such a powerful poem Sam. Feel like you’ve summed up this year where we blame people for their own misfortunes and revel in their pain.

Zealots and tyrants working in the name of good..God. Thinking themselves God's toys. Yep.

  • God's favourite hated toy, that really stood out to me. Your poem was so poignant and emotional. I loved it!
