The Cat Shat in My Shoe
The cat shat in my shoe
not the corner
not the litter tray
not the garden like cats are meant to do
Right in the left boot
my good one
the one I wore the day I met him
smiled too wide
thought life was changing
I didn’t see it at first
just felt something soft
as I slid my foot in
then the smell hit
like truth on a bad day
She didn’t even run
just stared
that long cold stare
cats give when they know
you won’t do a thing
And maybe I deserved it
maybe she’s seen me cry too much
smelled too many breakups on my coat
maybe she’s sick of sad music
and takeaways for one
She made her point
neat, precise
no mess
just the quiet insult of knowing
exactly where to hit
The dog pissed on my bed
the cat shat in my shoe
and I
still feed them both

Sometimes they do. What can we do?
"that long cold stare cats give when they know you won’t do a thing" So true
What's a pet owner to do in such circumstances. Good job and really quite funny in a way.
