the ACHE she chose

#

By KomalPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

SHE loved him

with the kind of hunger

that gnawed like winter,

knowing it would never be FED.

Held him like RAIN

in SOFT, trembling HANDS—

knowing water was never meant to STAY.

Still,

she cupped him gently,

like a relic, a sacred stone.

She saw treasure in the dust-covered wounded soul of him.

She called him precious,

a GEM

in the coarse SHELL of the world,

and tried to mend his jagged edges

to hers.

But some pieces refuse to FIT.

Not out of malice— just design.

Love doesn’t always bloom beneath the sun.

Sometimes,

it’s the shadow you learn to walk with,

the ACHE you fold like a worn letter

and tuck beneath your ribs.

At last, She let go,

not because she stopped caring—

but because holding on

was carving her open deeper than the LOSS.

Now she struggles

to build a quiet room inside her—

walls sturdy enough to HOLD

what never came to be.

But she refuses to silence the ache.

It is the last proof that it was REAL.

The final breath of a story

that ended before chapter two.

Love,

she’s learned, was never about keeping.

It’s about

what remains after it leaves

a BRUISE that HUMS,

a WOUND that WARMS,

a goodbye that still tastes

like H O N E Y.

The only love we keep is the love we give away. The shape and texture may change after every gifting, but it resides in us- because it is us. I definitely felt this one.

Very beautiful. I think everyone can identify with the holding onto something they treasure too much to let go until it has become a hurt to great to maintain.

Sometimes it's better to move on than it is to stay and be hurt and taken advantage of. lovely poem, komal <3

This is sad and very real. There’s a beautiful tension here which feels all too familiar.

This is so sad! It reminds me of someone I loved once, who never loved me back the same way. I eventually learned it was best for me to let go.

This description of love is so powerful. It makes me think of times when we hold onto something that can't be. I've had similar experiences where letting go was the hardest but the right thing. How do you think one can truly accept that kind of love that doesn't work out the way we want? It's amazing how it shows love's complexity. The idea of love being the ache that stays is profound. Have you ever felt a love like this that left a mark, even after it ended?

In the feels you hit again!! Komal the Tear-maker 😭😭 When you write something mysterious and introspective, it leaves us in deep thought; when you write something funny, it's absolutely hilarious. So of course when you write something emotional, it absolutely decimates the heart! And my heart is now gone. Oh well, didn't need it anyway. 😂 Another perfect poem, Komal. Keep 'em coming. The world needs your poems!!

  • To love without that ache....is all everyone hopes for! Beautiful. my friend.
