And Yet, the Crown Fell!

#

By KomalPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

She thought love bowed

to l o g i c,

to c o n t r o l,

to H E R.

She thought if she was ENOUGH

pretty enough,

clever enough,

bro ken just the right way—

it would stay.

You can’t conquer it.

You can’t outsmart it.

You can’t OWN

someone who is

choosing to stay.

Love is NOT a pet you leash.

It’s a GHOST that haunts

when you try to trap it.

“You can rule a country.

You can rule a boardroom.

But try ruling a HEART

and watch it vanish.

It doesn’t flinch at POWER.

It doesn’t kneel for PRIDE.

It slips through gold-ringed fingers

and sleeps where it’s SAFE,

not where it’s TOLD.

This is a testament of love’s ability to just be what it is. We have less control over things than we could have ever imagined. You embody the tendency for us to teeter-totter in our minds. I hope you’re doing great! 😊

Stunning work KoKo! Especially the ending!

  • Wow! Brilliantly written! This part caught my attention: "It slips through gold-ringed fingers and sleeps where it’s SAFE, not where it’s TOLD." You are an amazing writer Komal! Keep it up!

“Can’t own someone whose choosing to stay” is a powerful reminder not to take love for granted

I felt this one. Love is such a beautiful and sometimes terrifying thing. I really appreciate how you show love sleeping where it’s “safe” and not where it’s “told.”

Gosh, isn't this the truth! " it seems so much easier to see an unhealthy attachment from the outside looking in, hence the saying " love is blind." This is a potent thought- provoker ☀️😊

Great work, Komal, and I like how the word broken was divided. True words.💕

Wow, Komal. You always come in guns [words] blazing, and you never miss! 🤯 Love is the most uncontrollable emotion, never to be fully understood. "But try ruling a HEART and watch it vanish" - hit hard. The whole poem hit hard!! You've done so good once again! 😁
