tiny potholes
tearing her heart
he fills the beating ventricles with
tarry blacktop,
scarring the surfaces
with hot burns until
it seeps deep within,
slowing the beats to
teeny ticktocks
stealing her soul
bleeding her like a leach
leaving rusty blood speckles
in her lungs and heart
now
scarred
stabbed
scabbed
was cruelly deserted
and is now a scorched dead desert

Wow. This was amazing. Could literally feel this one.
Excellent work, Andrea! Great bits of alliteration and repetition. Really liked “teeny ticktocks stealing her soul”
You hooked me with the title! 😁
Nailed the challenge, Andrea! Incredibly done! 💌
I’m with Dharrsheena on this one: powerful and emotional, Andrea!
Gosh, that was so devastating! Such a poignant and emotional poem! I loved it!
That image of tar is very effective at showing the lasting scars of bad love, Andrea.
Phew. She seems so mistreated! Feeling her there, Andrea.
