Ode
Selena, Mother of Night
Selena, Mother of the Night, I come brimming with fright, Oh, Keeper of Dreams, I am undone at the seams. Each morning the sun chases you away, bringing forth another dreadful day. Your daily banishment is my ritual punishment. I beg of you, linger in the sky, may your beacon never die. Keep the sun at bay and the daywalkers away. Those living life routine, are a blemish on the unseen. Fools of days mundanity drain me of my sanity. I kneel before you on this darkened eve, praying that you never leave. Keep me, beneath your holy power as the solar sheep all cower. My pale and powerful goddess, hear my plea. The dark will stay, so mote it be.
