Ode to Hibiscus

My new flower is done blooming

By Lana V LynxPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
The last of the three flowers

So pretty in red

but lasting only one day

hibiscus fell off.

***

It gave me three buds,

Each flowered just for one day,

Now done for awhile.

The first flower

I'll wait for next batch

Eagerly looking forward

to more blooms to come.

***

Should I crop its top

So that it grows sideways, not

In one fine tall stalk?

The second flower

Lovely poem, photos & flower… my first Labrador loved eating this type of Hibiscus! 🤣Probably sweet with nectar.🤔

You are so much better with plants than me!

Beautiful. I like the fleeting nature of it too. Makes it all the more precious. Personally, I would prune it to give it shape as if it keeps growing ever upwards, it's just going to get straggly.

I don't get it when flowers work so hard to bloom then fall off. I kept a book where I pressed them and wrote poems...lost in in storage during Corona. Its lovely though. Enjoy.

  • Oooo, those flowers are prettyyyy! Loved your Haikus!
