Spring Blues

Here, Then Gone

Early in the season of hope, when life renews

With the last of frosts and the first of blooms

Before the days are longer, I get a case of the blues

My heart grows heavy as I feel it begin to loom

Just for a short while, the depression wins

Dragging me under, blinding me to the beauty I see

In my constant battle, I forget to let the sunlight in

Pulling and shoving, my gloominess won’t let me be

Glumly, in the mornings, I rise and face each new day

But the moroseness will only last for a short time

When the vision around me finally makes it all okay

And enjoying the sun’s warmth, I can make a rhyme

Rising from my misery, to stand in awe of the enchantment

Watching the flowers grow, lifting me from my despair

Raising my spirits, causing them to soar with abandonment

Dancing in the green grass with no cares, the wind in my hair

Your poem bloomed and had me dancing in the grass! Fantastic poem!

  • I love the changing seasons & they do tend to lift my spirits. But what works even better for me is people watching, especially children, how they interact with one another, help one another, reach out to one another.

  • May Spring take the blues away. Well done, Sharon.

This was really lovely. The weather definitely affects your mood. Hope you’re doing ok - I heard the storms were pretty gnarly in southern Missouri.
