solid ground gives way like hidden trap doors.
incited by suppressed memories escaping rusted anchor.
livid, is understated, leaving nauseous trails from
extended and looping frames.
neither of my watered eyes can blink this away, yet the gravity
can never leave safety of the tongue. shame will banish
every reel of that sickening film back to the state of how it belongs—unseen...unheard.

Um the silent film, perhaps they should have more of that today. Well done.
This is truly magnificent, Lamar. How did this not place or even reach TS status? That is a crime. Sorry I am so late in reading this. Brilliant writing!
Perhaps I speak too much from my own experience, but this silent film that plays in our head on a loop is like a turbine that energizes and inspires some of us to overcome it and render the world more beautiful, while others will tend to project it out, wanting others only to see the horror, but unwittingly destroying beauty in the process; and often this can be the same individual at different times throughout life. Learning to harness and redirect that energy to better ends is a trial and error process, I suppose. Well-wrought and deeply thought, Lamar!
Silent films were much better than the violence of today - have we evolved or devolved. But hey, progress.
Very powerful and thought provoking
The deep sense of shame in this one is really effective. Excellent take on the challenge ❤️
Hi L-bro - Good new look for such a famous Author getting your ears lowered. I often wonder when I get my daily dose of 'Laurel & Hardy' how it's supposed to be set in the early 20's (vintage crank handle cars and all) and the 1st 'Talkies' were supposed to be from Al Jolson's '27 Jazz Singer..! You do amaze me how many 'Topics' you cover - Put this one in the Can...! j-bro in.l.a.
I like how it’s not spelled out, but the reader can make a guess as to what has happened. The idea of looping is a clever one, as memories that haunt us tend to play over and over. Good luck in the challenge Lamar!
What an amazing piece, Lamar! Incredibly well done. You wrote the heaviness of this so brilliantly! This is a fantastic entry to the challenge, and a winner in my book! ✨🩷
Phenomenal! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
What a creative and masterful poem that hit like a ton of bricks in its profundity. Well done and such a unique approach to the prompt that was given!
Hi Thank you for being my subscriber I didn't exactly understand it and I don't think it's a poem it's more of a small para type I am not into. But I have written my first poem can you give me some insights to make it more good I made the last words of sentence rhyme I thought that was the way to write a poem My poem's name is The Spirit of Victory: A Poem Honoring the Olympics and Para-Olympics
Wow! Strong stuff for an acrostic poem on silence!😳
Well I wasn't expected that... It was a literal gut punch and I kind of liked it! 😅 Nicely done Lamar!
Dang!!! Glad I'm back, missed your writing 💯
Whoaaaa, that hit me so hard! You nailed this challenge!
Awesome!!! Magnificently written!!!💕❤️❤️
Very deep, Lamar. Spectacularly written.
This both deep and deeply sad, Lamar. The shame evoked by the piece is mirrored so strikingly by the image you selected as well. This is first rate poetry, Lamar, fairly brimming with feeling and meaning.
Powerful, Lamar.
Oh damn, that was rough. I could feel the press, the weight of ugly memories. So well done, my friend :) (Also, loving the new profile pic!!)
This is potent, my friend.
I can only imagine what is on that film.
Wow! this is a very moving, and deeply inflective piece. It left me with some very deep thoughts! SO hard to do with such a short amount of words. This is just awesome!
Beautifully sad, I love it! Excellent take on the challenge!😊
