Petrarchan Sonnet

About writing rap for a grandson

By Denise E LindquistPublished 6 months ago 1 min read
When I was working on his music...Authors photo.

Author's Note: Petrarchan rhyme scheme of ABBA ABBA CDEDCE.

Poetry is my thing, ever since he

my grandson was into singing rap tunes.

I agreed to write something for his croons

He told me I need to rhyme more, you see

I took this on like a project with glee

I spent many nights and some afternoons

writing and singing along to some spoons

I was told I didn't have it! Oh me!

~

How disappointing, no rapping granny

Then I was told by a medicine man

who raps, had I considered spoken word

Who is this man, or was it the Satan?

I couldn't believe it, not this nanny

I didn't say that or am I absurd?

This attempt sounded good to me for I tried to 'rapp' it. Good job.
