Where on earth did we go wrong, my brother?

Pleasant companionship turned combative

Such sorrow and grief we’ve caused our mother.

*

We used to get along with each other,

Those sunnier days I long to relive.

Where on earth did we go wrong, my brother?

*

This decade past I’ve strived to discover,

The hurt inflicted that you won’t forgive.

Such sorrow and grief we’ve caused our mother.

*

How did our relationship sour… smother?

When did pride become determinative?

Where on earth did we go wrong, my brother?

*

We each so loved our mother, our father,

Their dear lives, this rift has now far outlived.

Such sorrow and grief we’ve caused our mother.

*

How long will we snub, struggle and suffer?

I beseech you! Please forgive… while we live!

Where on earth did we go wrong, my brother?

Such sorrow and grief we’ve caused our mother.

Outstanding and congratulations. A sibling feud really captured the essence of regret

  • Well-wrought, and accolades well-deserved! This can read as an account of personal regret or a general lament about the way we treat one another, "on earth".

  • Wow. That's a tone of regret if I ever heard one. Congrats on the honorable mention, Angle, and very cleverly done!

  • Wooohooooo congratulations on your honourable mention! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

Lovely, Angie. Brought a tear to my eye as I recalled the pain my sisters and l have caused my mother. My sisters have not spoken to each other for most likely thirty years. I have not spoken to my younger sister for almost twenty years. My mother, who is now 93, often tries to make sense of it, but there is no sense to it.

Family breakdowns are awful. Excellently captured here <3

  • This was so sad and I believe a lot of us would find this relatable. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️

This made me cry. Heartbreaking and what precious time we lose in the rifts...praying for families to be reunited and forgive. Hugs

  • You really showed raw emotion here. Whatever happened in the past, I hope that one day you and your brother can reunite.
