Night Blues/Nachtblues
A bilingual free verse poem in English/German
In English:
Night blues
kill and devour me.
I have many secret weapons
to use, to destroy this unseen creep.
I numb myself
with pastimes and comfort food.
I sedate myself
with essential oils and herbs.
Bye bye night time blues,
you’re gone for good.
I don’t want to ever
see your face in my imagination again.
If you enter my spirits
without my consent,
you’ll be charged
with health invasion.
In German:
Nachtblues
töten und verschlingen mich.
Ich kann viele Geheimwaffen benutzen,
um dieses unheimliche Geschöpf zu zerstören.
Ich betäube mich
mit Zeitvertreib und Hausmannskost.
Ich beruhige mich
mit ätherischen Ölen und Kräutern.
Bye, bye Nachtblues,
du bist für immer weg.
Ich will dein Gesicht
nie wieder vorstellen.
Wenn du meine Geister
ohne meine Zustimmung betrittst,
wirst du wegen
Gesundheitinvasion angeklagt.
