Moon-light, Moon-shadow

Letter to the Moon

My Dearest Moon,

You who are the light in the darkness,

The guide for the stars,

The boon of night travelers,

The lover of lovers,

The balancer of the sun.

Chandra to some,

Tsukuyomi to some,

Khonsu to some,

Artemis to some.

Friend and Guide to me.

I have a favor to ask of you.

Will you be my light

Tonight?

And will you also be

His darkness?

I know, it is hard to do both,

But I have faith in you.

You can do anything.

I am desperate.

I have no one to turn to

Except you.

I must go, must disappear

Into darkness.

Must escape.

Must hide in the shadows,

Hide from him who hunts me.

Will you guide my footsteps?

Will you light my way

In moon-light

And shroud his steps

In moon-shadow?

Will you shift your light

And your shadows

To protect me?

My dearest moon,

I place my life

In your silver fingers.
