Love Moves On

A poem and an inspirational Roy Orbison song

By Rasma RaistersPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Throughout her teen years,

she was the girl,

with cherry red lips,

stars in her eyes

and the world at her feet.

Love was but a fleeting thing,

her heart not ready to give,

to just one guy,

even though he promised,

love forever more.

Then the season rolled on,

the years like autumn leaves,

danced away on the wind

and she realized she needed,

a love to at last call her own.

Years are sometimes not kind,

nothing can bring back what you lose along the way,

she found there were no magic words to say –

no way to bring back yesterday.

So on and one,

through the years,

no hand to hold,

no one to dry the tears.

Somewhere deep inside,

her heart began to ache,

she wanted to go back,

to the days when love,

seemed to be everywhere,

when all the love songs,

where sung just for her.

But there is no way,

to bring back lost dreams,

too late to make love real,

not a game to play,

still deep inside of her,

she was still that starry-eyed girl

and as the tears fell –

she hoped to find a love to call her own.

Perhaps it wasn’t too late,

perhaps still kind was fate,

so on and on she went –

hoping to find a love to call her own.

If only this she had known,

through all the happy yesterdays,

through all the following lonely nights,

she would have someone now.
