For the Abecedarian: the reader/writer tango

A little note to say Thank You and

Be tender please

Careful with my soul you hold in your hands

Dance with me

Ever so softly

For me, this is perfect

Gently moving in kind

Hearts beating: one two, one two

I appreciate you, here with me

Just the two of us

Keep my soul tucked safe in your pocket

Let me move you

My lips, your eyes; my pen, your lips

Naked and raw

Obscene really, and yet here you are for the

Pieces of me laid bare

Quaking under your gaze, letting you

Read me mercilessly

See me all the way to my bones and tell me,

This experience we share, this to-and-fro

Undressed completely, your

Voluptuous lips around the word-shaped pieces of my shelled self

Was it good for you? What worked?

X-ray of me on the lightbox for your diagnosis

Yearning here for your feedback, but today maybe make it

Zephyr-like for my silly pen-inflated ego

~o~

Thank you for reading!

This is exactly how it is! A symbiotic union of writer and reader and a beautiful emergence of something new. The writer is naked; the reader naive, clueless at first. It’s all quite intimate. 😍

  • Awesome take on the challenge! Fun fact: blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn played on that album for Bowie, though they show Bowie playing the guitar in the video...

Erotic, cheeky, romantic, honest and raw. This is a wonderful poem. I wrote a story many years ago, not on vocal, where the protagonist told the woman that he loved unrequited, “I don’t want to be remembered, I want to be known.” But the character uttered the line because I was too afraid of rejection to say it. You, however, are unafraid to say the reason that we all post on Vocal. I greatly admire your courage and forthrightness, L.C.

It is like a dance that relationship between writer and reader :) Beautifully expressed. I loved this line, 'X-ray of me on the lightbox for your diagnosis'.

❤️ cosy smile of familiarity going on here. 😊

  • This is clever!

  • This was so good especially lines like Heartsbeating: one two, one two

There are so many things I loved about this poem. From the metaphors to the similes, and the delicate ways you weaved them together—*chef’s kiss*! From one Bowie fan to another, fabulous. One of my top 10 favourite music videos of all time. Though I think re Bowie, Dancing In the Street may be my fave. So simple and silly!

I really like the words-as-thoughts flow, and the imagery is great! Really well done.

  • Well done!❤️

Oh I love this, I've never framed this relationship in quite such sensuous terms but it's there, isn't it, it's there!

    So harmonious 🥰

Be tender please - such a great line.

  • Nicely done, L.C. As for "pen-inflated ego", you've always been good at this, but what you've been doing lately I'm not sure you can inflate your ego sufficiently to match your product.

Way to make writing/reading such a sensual experience. This was really very good. Now excuse me while I go put more clothes on. I suddenly feel vulnerable.

I loved these lines in particular. They really spoke to my heart in a way that I think every writer can relate to :) "Be gentle please Careful with my soul you hold in your hands Dance with me Ever so gently"
