Sparkles, dances, and paints
no way considered saints
Darkness descends over the land
winds of change aren't planned.
No one sees you, you are invisible
A giant or a nymph inquisible
Windows, windshields, and plants
decorated in white swirl rants.
Nature dresses the world in mysterious ways.
A brilliant light show ends our day.
Awaking to a frozen sight
for pity's sake the cold bites.
Jokul Frosti isn't a quack.
Jokul was anglicized to Jack
a folklore for the long dark nights
to survive the winter delights.
Cold and magic in the air
causes one to stop and glare.
Bites our toes, and stings our nose.
That's the way winter goes.
Jokul Frosti or Jack Frost,
winter has its magical cost.
Enjoy the frost when it's here
and be grateful for another year.

Jokul Frost so much better than Jack Great job Babs. Kudos on the rhyming and the humor
Ah a neat and fun piece Babs! 😊
I hear today is your birthday :) Happy Birthday Babs! I loved this poem! It has never occurred to me that Jack Frost was ever known under any other name, even if it's the same name in another language
Love the mythology you've included here
Loved this frosty poem from you :) Especially that last line. And what a cool bit of history to highlight!! Happy birthday!
I love this poem , Beautiful 😍 Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 and Happy 2025 New Year! May you have a healthy New Year as well
And that’s Jack, beautifully described in his frosty form. Beautiful, Babs.
Loved this poem, with it’s rhyme.😃 Especially: “ Cold and magic in the air causes one to stop and glare. Bites our toes, and stings our nose. That's the way winter goes. Jokul Frosti or Jack Frost, winter has its magical cost.” It looks pretty, but here, without the promise of snow to follow, it just burns the grass etc, if rain doesn’t follow quickly😳. Happy Christmas 🎄.
What a great myth you created, the back story of Jack Frost. And so beautifully told
This is great Babs!😊💕💗
Yay! 🥳 Congrats on your Honorable Mention Babs!
Congratulations on the Honorable Mention this week with this story! Well done!
I like the slow pace of this poem, nicely written and easy to follow. The beat and the rhythm are perfect and the fact that you included the folklore of Jack Frost name, gave even more depth to this lovely poem. The first line was such a good opening it sets the tone nicely, neutral but menacing and magical. I loved every bit of it. Congratulations for your honorable mention under most discussed stories on this weeks leaderboard 🎉🎊🥳
What a fun read and great rhyme! Well done, Babs!
Such a fun read that leaves you feeling humble! Great wok, Babs!

Oh I never knew that about the name! Love the way you brought this to life.
And dear lord do we need the magic to get us through the dark.
This is so cozy and aesthetic!!!!
Time melted the icy disposition of the old gods, it seems! I imagine on account of warm hearts like yours, venerable Babsha! Well-wrought!
Omgggg, I never knew that Jack Frost originated from Jokul Frosti! Loved your poem!
