If I See You Again.
The Sea That I Become.

If I see you again,
Will your eyes find the cracks of yesterday,
Or the polished stone I’ve become,
Sharp edges kissed smooth by time?
You will wonder,
Why you let the wind carry me away,
Why you never lingered long enough
To see the fire behind the quiet.
I am different now,
A constellation of mysteries you cannot chart,
Laughter with edges sharper than stars,
Beauty that whispers instead of shouting.
Do you carry the weight
Of words unsaid,
Apologies buried beneath
The rubble of your pride?
Your steps echo behind me,
A shadow in the lamplight.
You offer a ride—
And I might get in.
