Sleepless nights and Dirty Dishes.

Clean Counters, Chaotic Spirit.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 9 months ago 1 min read

Sleepless nights and dirty dishes—
That’s not me. I have routines and wishes.
I meal prep. I hydrate. I floss.
But one damn plate and I feel at a loss.

I light my candle, set the mood,
Put on a playlist, prep my food.
But post-dinner? A moral collapse.
Soap? Elbow grease? No, perhaps…

I’m better than this—this spongy war.
I’m not the type to mop the floor
Imagined tears and dishpan hands—
I had goals! I had dinner plans!

And yet I’m here, like everyone else,
Questioning forks, and deeply myself.
Why must a meal end in despair?
Why can’t dishes just vanish in air?
