Frost’s Forgiveness
A Chilly Forgiveness Poem
One forgives- for oneself. -Michelle Liew
For Mikeydred’s December Prompt
**********************************************************************
In the calm of winter’s breath,
the forest hums with shattered dreams,
frost clings to the bark of memories
Etched wounds too deep to close.
**********************************************************************
Each cut cracks the frost,
Splinters a wretched past.
The mirroring pond awaits
Its sleek surface quivering with faces
Etched in grooves of deep regret
**********************************************************************
The frost melts, not from the heat,
But from the hands and heart
Forgiveness thaws -
For one’s soul.
