Fairy Tales And Nursery Rhymes I Heard Growing Up

They came in threes and my culture is fours.

The Butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, and what no dishwasher?

Not the picture above of the duck or that kind of washer.

Three blind mice, what about the fourth mouse?

Three little pigs, what happened to the fourth in the tree house?

I heard about the four directions, the four main people colors

Then the four elements, the four medicines, and so many others.

The medicine wheel included 4 segments - baby/young child, older child/teen, young adult/adult, old person/elders.

No stories were in threes

Well, maybe the birds and the bees.

*

Have you ever heard the nursery rhyme about the dishwashing duck?

He loved the soap and water of the dishwasher and he put up with yuck!

He liked that they all came out nice and clean!

He didn't want to feel mean

coming out without a clean jean!

*

And what about the fourth mouse this time?

He wasn't blind, so they didn't include him in the rhyme!

The farmer's wife could never cut his tail off!

he would only scoff!

The other mice didn't see that sight

as they were all three blind mice right?

*

The Pig in the Treehouse

The fourth little pig had a treehouse.

No wolf would bother him in the house!

No huffing and puffing on that stronghold.

So much to behold.

So you see the pigs were all as safe as can be.

All four pigs, you see!

The birds and the bee

One day creator was painting the flowers for me.

They were all white.

What a site.

One bird flew down

and got paint on his wings, such a clown

He flew up and created the rainbow.

The next bird was flying with paint and put a bow

on the honey bee.

Oh gee!

*

Cinderella and Her Two Wicked Stepsisters.

There were really four girls in that family. Cinderella and 3 sisters.

One was two spirit. Some people would not approve.

Doesn't matter, that is the way it is. They all groove

together in my story of Cinderella and her sisters.

No such thing as step sisters in my lifetime. Just misters,

hubby, partner, wife, and other names for each other.

Cinderella was looking for a fella and her sisters were too, and her mother.

They were all going to the powwow down the road.

They hoped to not have to marry a toad.

They knew that if it wasn't a blessed union they

may turn into a pumpkin but hey

sometimes that isn't all bad.

You want the right lad.

Someone to love you and for you to love

It can be important to raise a lovely young dove.

But first to find that partner for eternity

it may not be forever but for paternity

it may be necessary.

So send an emissary

to assist with the process.

You don't want to miss

out on all that, there is out there

You don't want to have to share.

*

The next day,

everyone said hey,

what do you have to say?

I say yay

not nay.

We all said okay

time to play

all day today!

*

Good news for all

Cinderella had a ball

at the powwow in the fall.

And so did all of her sisters

finding their misters!

Everyone living happily ever after!

And it was fun to hear all the laughter!

Fairy tales and nursery rhymes I heard growing up were the same as others. I just heard maybe a few more stories that included nursery rhymes and fairy tales in fours from my mothers! Not the ones I wrote for you here though! Just some fun for me today, to rhyme and to let you know. So many fun stories and now it is time to go!
