Evening In The Bluebell Wood
A Short Ekphrastic Sonnet Inspired By The Painting By Angie Livingstone (The Glittering Fox)

Introduction
This is my fifty-fourth piece inspired by Angie's incredible work. This is an older painting by Angie, and someone remarked that a lot of my work is ekphrastic, which for ages I didn't know what it means, but here is a clarification:
It is a rhetorical device where a writer vividly describes a visual artwork, aiming to capture its essence and impact.
In this poem, I am trying to bring the painting to life, although Angie has already done that. I was recently having lunch at The Woodside in Doune, and I walked out and saw a stag across the road, but it ran into the trees before I could take a photo.
I have decided on a sonnet with a four-syllable line, and that is quite difficult when you include rhyme. Sometimes seemingly short forms require a lot more mental work.
