Part C: The A-Z of Unusual Words Challenge

Coccineous: bright red
***
Bright red has always been my favourite colour, which is understandable since I love strong bold or contrasting colours. As an extrovert, red always excites, energises and draws me like a magnet. Except when it doesn't! Red traffic lights and Stop signs annoy, irritate and infuriate me. However, Red remains my stalwart friend and safeguard. Without her, my cherry red blood could spill and then I’d be pushing up daisies up on a hill. So, Red it is, and Red it remains... she's the colour for me!

Coccineous
I am the girl who loves red
When I’m weary or dreary
It helps me get out of bed!
Revs me up
Cheers me up
At least that’s my theory.

At my wedding I rejoiced… was glad
Saw my bridesmaids resplendently file
Shimmering crimson, satin clad
Gracefully
Serenely
Towards me, down the aisle.
*
Mr Lincoln rose… what a sight to behold
Head lifted proudly on high
Sways… velvet petals so bold
Damask perfume
Wafts on the breeze
Pause, inhale and sigh.
*
Fiery clouds look down
On a lake's spectacular reflection
They banish any frown
Nature's canvas
Blissful silence
One blessed moment of introspection.
*
What is this strange attraction... I wonder
Between spellbinding scarlet and me
No matter how long I sit and ponder
It eludes
Bemuses
This lifelong affinity.

Amazing poem about the connection you have to the color red.
I love new words for red. I feel like I should make an article listing all the ones I like and provide links to poems that use the word. Note...to...self...
an amazing writer you are
I loved this! My brother says, "Important women wear red." I loved your Dad's roses, too.
Fabulous, Angie! I did a color inspired one too! Such rich and vibrant word choice! Loved the different images you focused on in each stanza!
