Mona flipped me off

I was shopping downtown at my local bookstore

Looking for the latest book by my favorite author

Fully relaxed and enjoying the scents in the shop

Suddenly, all the murmured chit-chat came to a stop

Glancing up, I turned to see what the fuss was about

I stumbled, and with surprise, I gave a little shout

For entering the glass doors, a sight for an art gallery

Mona stood, asking a salesclerk for the works of Malory

Knowing from my experience at the grocery store

My words would be doubted; I’d need something more

I looked to see if my fellow browsers saw what I seen

A couple was perusing the cookbooks for all things lean

A man in overalls stood on tiptoes reaching to the top DIY topshelf

A mother ran by, chasing her child, who was dressed as an elf

There were a couple of cashiers ringing up purchases by the door

But they all seemed to ignore her once she walked into the store

Walking down the aisles, I watched as she searched the books

Smiling, she flipped me off before heading to the reading nooks

Stunned, I stood still for a moment, deciding what to do

That’s when I thought, I’d bring everything to you

So, pulling my phone from my purse, I followed close behind

I started filming, hoping I could prove I was of a sound mind

Trying to get a good angle, I moved to get a better view

She must have known what I was up to because all I got was her hairdo

I moved left, and she moved right, blocking me at every turn

This proved easier said than done; a good shot she was making me earn

Just when I thought I’d get her on camera, a clerk appeared by my side

Taking me by my arm, he told me I needed to buy something or go outside

Realizing I was causing a scene, I quickly pocketed my phone

Obviously, everyone here was used to seeing Mona Lisa’s clone

So, gathering up my purchased fiction, I headed out the door

And that’s my little adventure today inside the bookstore

Hehehe. A clone flipping you off. This is mint! 😄 As I was reading, I was sure I’d read this before, then noticed your grocery store link haha.

  • Wonder what I would do if I really did see her! Charming little adventure!

Well-wrought! I caught Elvis and Jim Morrison at the Dunkin' Donuts the other day! Mooned me in unison in the parking lot! Nobody cared...

Haha, this was a riot! The way you casually dropped a Mona Lisa sighting like it was just another Tuesday had me grinning the whole way through...😂

  • What a day! Love it!

  • I am terrible for saying hello to people and then just realise that they look like someone I know 😁

  • Now that you mention it, she does look like someone I have known, though I can't remember her name (or his--I'm just sayin', sometimes it's hard to tell).

I loved this. You should have asked her something. 😁

  • Ah man, can't even get a proper video. Lol. Loved your poem!

I think I’d have done the exact same thing—chasing her with my phone in one hand and disbelief in the other.
