Benediction

A nighttime meditation

By Paul RuszelPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
The Ocean Captures All Colour

The ocean is a cathedral,

the Southern Cross moving gently

across the wall of night.

The tide a sermon unto itself,

the ceiling a renaissance of stars.

How to gauge the radiance of

these numberless galaxies,

against the sparkling,

diamond studded ripples,

moving on the water

in all directions at once.

Crashiing waves pronounce

a eulogy of sound,

deafening rumbles,

a constant Doppler

fading to tiny whispers,

pebbles in a stream,

a single stone in a still pond.

The heart opens

to receive the night rainbow,

touched by the colours of

Benediction.
