The Ocean Absorbs All Colours
The ocean is a cathedral,
the Southern Cross moving gently
across the wall of night.
The tide a sermon
unto itself,
the ceiling a renaissance of stars.
How to gauge the radiance
of these numberless galaxies,
against the sparkling
diamond studded ripples,
moving on the water
in all directions at once.
Crashing waves pronounce
a eulogy of sound,
deafening rumbles,
a constant Doppler,
fading to tiny whispers,
pebbles in a stream,
a single stone
in a still pond.
the heart opens to receive
the night rainbow,
touched by
the colours of Benediction.
