An hour to rush
How does one man find quiet among so many?

Screeching metal casts me, into a whirl of faces
I stumble through the crowd, wanting out of these busy places
Lead me away, from horns and chatter and glare
Everything is all-at-once too much, and calm is all too rare
Not for me the city bustle, the rapid-fire to and fro
Carry me home to a cup of tea, a book, and all things slow
Empty and in need of rest, revive me there by fire’s glow.

Fabulous acrostic social commentary poem!!! Loved it and the rhyming was fantastic!!!❤️❤️💕
Oh lord, take me with you.
Yes, please, to those final lines!! Loved the use of rhyme! Excellent acrostic and challenge entry, Joe!
Silence as respite from that hellish rat race commute, I love it!
Joe, you really do get me. Loved this! Just seeing the mass of people causes me a bit of stress. Hot tea to the rescue :)
Make that coffee instead of tea and that's paradise for me. Loved your poem!
Excellent challenge entry, well done!😊
This is so, so lovely! And as a city-dweller, it is so relatable. You paint a vivid and palpable picture of the craziness of city life, and then give the beautiful described juxtaposition of a calmer scene in just two lines. LOVE this, Joe! :)
It's beautiful! I love it!
Oh, now I want a fire!! I could feel the relief offered in the view at the end. Wonderful work :)
Amazing work!!
I know that feeling and the chaos within. Nicely done!
