An Autumn Equinox
September 22nd 2024

Introduction
This is a villanelle for this year's Autumn Equinox. We say farewell to summer and day matches night and so I have chosen "Father Of Day, Father Of Night" Manfred Mann's Earthband's cover of the Bob Dylan Song.
An Autumn Equinox
πππππππππ
The Hours Of The Day Match The Hours Of The Night
Today Is The Day To Say "Summer, Farewell"
From The Trees See The Gold Leaves Falling In Flight
πππ
Coming Days Are Shorter With Lessening Light
Darkness Will Be Welcomed By Earlier Bells
The Hours Of The Day Match The Hours Of The Night
πππ
We Will See More Stars Shine, A Beautiful Sight
Autumn Leaves Falling, Summer Sun Fare Thee Well
From The Trees See The Gold Leaves Falling In Flight
πππ
We Can See The Moon Bathed In Silver Starlight
Shining Bright, Reflected In A Wishing Well
The Hours Of The Day Match The Hours Of The Night
πππ
Each Day Is Still Twenty Four Hours, Know That's Right
Twice Times Twelve At Noon And Midnight Toll Church Bells
From The Trees See The Gold Leaves Falling In Flight
πππ
The Autumn Equinox Does Now Split The Light
As Burnt Brown Autumn Leaves Are Falling Pell-Mell
The Hours Of The Day Match The Hours Of The Night
From The Trees See The Gold Leaves Falling In Flight

Beautiful imagery! Is there some creative wossname with the equinox? I feel like I can't write quick enough to get it all down!
Beautiful job. I admire anyone who can tame the villanelle form, and youβve done so well here. It felt like the downward spiral of an autumn leaf falling from a tree. Great job.
This was absolutely stunning! Loved your poem!
Lovely Autumn thoughts.
Simply beautiful for my favorite season of the year. Love the changing leaves as well as the chilly air. Wish I could still feel those breezes in the Deep South. One day I will.
