All I Need

Pure Contentment?

All I Need

I have all that I need in life.

I'm happy and at ease.

I do not want for anything -

Well, maybe one of these...

---

I'm so content and satisfied,

My head down to my toes.

I have all that I need, but wait -

I don't have one of those...

---

I'm blessed beyond my wildest dreams.

I have excess to share.

I really should give some away-

Wait, what's that, over there?

---

I truly can't describe the peace

That such abundance brings.

All my needs have been fulfilled -

Oooo, looky! Shiny things!

---

Of course, my dear, I truly know

That all I need is you,

But don't you think that we could use

One more of these? Or two?

***

I feel like I should have something profound to say here, but the truth is, I have no idea where this one came from. I hope you get a chuckle out of it.

Thanks for reading!

    beautiful. love it

  • I need this or I need that, is something I have heard from a few friends over the years. It's funny because when I read this, the voices of those friends came back to make me wonder what have they been doing and did they reach their artificial goal to achieve what they wanted at that time......I'm going to say probably not.😁

I love this, Dana! I feel like I want to print this out and read it to myself every morning for positive affirmations 🥹❤️

Be happy with what you have and you won't care about what you don't have.

Dana I appreciate the poetic license in this one and your honesty in the authors note! I can totally respect that sometimes, the best thing you can do is let the work speak for itself! Great work!

  • My chuckle rises from the way you express so plainly & with such humor or basic human condition of always wanting more.

Reminds me of me regarding my books - and my husband about his fishing equipment. I'm looking around my little home office and think, "how the heck did I accumulate so much stuff?"

    Awesome humor🫣that’s me hahha!!I love reading it❣️

  • I guess that's the thing about us humans. We will always feel we need something more, lol!

I can relate. Having to much and more, I'm selling off the excess stuff is such a chore. Dealing with other's problems, it can be hard to endure.

Lol. I can think of a few things I want but don’t really need. The. And then There are things you can’t talk yourself out of. I just bought a beer making kit to make my first IPA. Now all I need is patience cause it’s going to be a process. Thank you for sharing this one.

Definitely gave a little grin. Really good read.

So relatable, though. I think the profundity is there, behind the humor of being distracted by everything new, new, new. Well done! I always struggle with rhymes, but this read so effortlessly. 💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This feels like my internal dialogue whenever I see something I want but don't need 😂😂😂

  • I did love this! It’s so true! Not just for me, many people, whether they realize it or not. We always want more no matter what we got, so succinctly and we’ll done!

As I am packing for camping I am finding an alarming number of black shorts. I do not know how many shorts are too many black shorts... but I reckon I am in the running. I like the way you kept the 'things' ambiguous!

  • I enjoyed this so much. It kind of made me laugh at myself. I like anything I read that makes me think, but doesn't really hurt my feelings. This was great!

This reminded me of my X. She never possessed a dollar she felt was worth keeping. I guess satisfaction is relevant to the moment.

Loved it and I chuckled several times while reading it. It seems this is what life has become, so your words are, in a way, profound.

Good old materialism.....I'm a sucker for collecting things. But being grateful for what we have, that's the route to real happiness. Well written with great observations!

  • This is Fantastic, Dana😉❤️💯I Enjoyed Reading❗

🤯 this is really amazing. Glad these words floated through you, Dana! Your authors note was so perfect, but truly, you said all of the profound things in every line of your poem. That was deep. Brilliant, as always! 💫

My brain, when I try to convince myself not to buy something... I loved this!
