Pith helmet Cap planted atop woolly crown,
Rifle Car keys at the ready
Binoculars Spectacles glinting in early morning light
Eyes peeled, scanning to and fro
Relentlessly searching for quarry
In the most unlikely locations
Adrenaline spikes as
Elusive prey amble across peripheral vision
Then melt mysteriously into the mists on second glance.

Life
Is one exhaustingly incessant hunt
Pursuing scores of stuff…
Memories, ‘Lost Marbles’ and one far too Mobile Phone
Adeptly hiding in plain sight
Red on red
or…
Tightly leashed to its charging cable
or…
Absentmindedly abandoned in the peg basket
Under merrily flapping sheets
Spinning round and round
On the clothesline like a carousel
Riding in circles to cheery tunes
Trilled by chirping Willy Wag Tails
Feathered fan tails wagging
Left and right… back and forth.
*
High tech ‘Search and Rescue’ missions
or…
‘Search, Capture and Release’ missions
Led by the indispensable Garmin watch
Zero in on the target
Nearer, ever nearer with its strident
Bling! Bling! Bling!
Coaxing my wayward phone out of invisibility
Back into plain sight…
Nestled incongruously amongst T-shirts on a wardrobe shelf.
*
Sweet relief!
To have and to hold
My life-line and light
Back in my clammy hand
For a fleeting moment
before…
Being casually carelessly plonked down again
Setting the hunt in motion yet again.
*
A never ending song sung in the round!
“Oh where oh where can my dear phone be?
Oh where oh where can it be?
With its ring-tone on silent
And screen not so vibrant
Oh where oh where can it be?”

It is always phone hunting season in our house. Well done!
I can relate to this. I manage to lose my phone even in smallest tightest places. Great take on the challenge, Angie!
