dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
Dog or Diver?
I had Shaka my rotti, from the day she was born. I rescued her and her brothers and sisters from her extremely non-maternal mother Hunny and in order to get my promised pup, I helped out my mate and raised them all by bottle whilst working my job and raising my daughter. It was a task I can tell you, there were eight of them by the time their mum had killed a couple.

Larry
I really hadn’t known him very long. Come to think of it, I don’t think anyone ever really knew him. He was one of those unique individuals that would one day just kind of saunter into your life, not one to push a welcome or become a burden. His needs were basic and easy to fill. I remember the first day we met. It was a glorious summer evening in Mid-May. The brilliant Texas sun blanketed me in soft, setting rays as I contemplated life in my little garden, a glass of merlot in one hand, the garden hose in the other. Thinking and watering, watering and thinking. Thinking of what, it doesn’t really matter. The watering is all that was important. I was not expecting a visitor that evening, after my divorce, solitude had become my only comfort.

Maple & Me
Tokyo sucks for dogs. At least dogs like mine who were born into a world where there were off-leash parks all over the neighborhood and one across from my apartment. My dog was born and raised in Toronto, Canada, and I lived in an area where I could walk my dog in the city atmosphere or go towards the lake and get some beach action. My dog is spoiled and knows what dogs in Tokyo don’t; life is green out there.

The CATastrophe
I feel like some back story is due before going into one of my favorite memories with my dog. I didn't plan on getting him, and was actually taking my cousin to the ASPCA to help her pick out a dog. I had adopted two cats from the same shelter the year before. When we went there, we interacted with many dogs, one of which was "Biz." We went in the kennel with him and he immediately took to me. We took him out for a walk and played fetch. He was very well behaved and full of energy. When it was time to put him back into the kennel, I stayed in there for a while petting him. My cousin didn't find a dog that she was interested in taking so we left. I rode with her back to her house which was 30 minutes away. The whole time I couldn't stop thinking about Biz.

A Decade of Love
The two-hour drive behind me, sitting/fidgeting, impatiently, at the airport, waiting for him. Ever since we met at the whelping pen, he is all I can think about. As I stood off to the side of the other puppies, a litter of eleven, he walked over to me, and I knew he was mine. Now, finally, after six long weeks, we are together.

Furever My Companion
I met my fur baby at a shelter in 2015. The workers told me they found her wandering down a street a few days before. They assumed she had been abused, most likely by men, because when the male workers tried to interact with her, she flinched and huddled in a corner. I fell in love with her almost instantly. Her honey-colored eyes were mesmerizing. She had a beautiful tan coat, white paws, and one ear that always stood up. I held my hand to the gate, to show her I was not a threat. She stared at me from her corner, with her tongue hanging out of her mouth. Eventually, she walked to the gate. She sniffed me a few times with her cute red nose, then smiled at me. I knew we were meant for each other. They told me her name was Sweetie, but I could change it if I wanted to. I walked her around the outside play area, and we bonded.

The Four-Legged Adventures of Cas
Dog people are all the same. We love our pets more than we love anything else. We spoil them, give them treats, and take them on adventures that we wouldn't normally go on ourselves. They make us better, kinder, more patient people. As soon as someone asks that fatal question "Do you have a dog?", we light up. Proud as punch showing off photos of our furry babies, telling strangers about their character and the funny habits that they posses. In my experience, dogs bring people together, they encourage us to socialise with people we wouldn't normally, to make unsuspecting friends.

Just The Two of Us
Hi Humans, My name is Ivory Neal but I like to be called Ivy. I am a Jackshund (Jack Russell Terrier and Dachshund). In 2013, I was sentenced to death by Dog Police but I saved my mom Shaleita. She called the kill shelter to adopt me after she found out that she have children.

The Raising of Ambrose
Ambrose was a black lab. My black lab. Radiant obsidian fur everywhere, save a tiny patch of brilliant white in the middle of his chest. The smallest from a litter of six puppies, my dad called Ambrose a million different names over time, but he never let anyone call the dog a “runt,” perhaps, I fathom, because my dad had been the smallest of three offspring himself.
