dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
The Importance of Keeping Your Dog Mentally Stimulated
Raise your hand if your dog has ever pestered you, following you from room to room with a bored face? If so, rest assured, you are not alone! Boredom and pent-up energy are the most common reasons dogs develop behavioral problems. Most dogs living in urban settings spend a good chunk of their time alone, and the biggest perk of their day may be seeing their beloved owners coming home. This is a moment of great excitement and celebration and can often be too much to handle for a tired owner who has spent eight hours in the office.

Hi all, it's Thistle here. Thought I'd take another crack at this. This morning dawned cloudy with showers. After much whining and a rap on the door by my paw/claws, Master and Mistress got up. Master let us out back, we quickly did our business and came back in, but that doesn't mean we don't have some stored up for our walkies. Mistress got dressed, came down, put her boots, coat and ear muffs on. Us harness up and out the door we went. Up to the grassy area, liquid business done and ball play time. I'm a good girl when Mistress says 'That'll do, come' and I go to her. I don't want to give up the ball, but I do because it means we go on our walkies. Today we did what Mistress calls a medium-large walk because the skies looked very dark and it was raining off and on. We walked a little farther than normal, but not too long, Mistress said she had to do Master's breakfast, our breakfast and her poo pick job. We walked to down town, then back by the park and towards home. There were two very large black dogs in the park playing with their owner. We saw them, they saw us, but Stirling is getting better, he didn't react. We both got treats for that, then we walked on to home. Mistress gave us our anti-allergy treats, but she didn't have any dental sticks (she said she'd get some from downtown), so she gave us some crunchy biscuits. She grabbed her coat and her stuff and out the door. When she came back she had a new reusable tote bag, some dental sticks for us and shampoo for us as well. She said she'd fix breakfast for Master and us, then we were each getting a bath. I like it when Mistress hand-feeds me now, just like she does Stirling. She says it's so I actually get to eat my food and Stirling doesn't stress-eat it. I don't mind the baths so much, I actually sit down in the warm water while she pours it over me, it feels so good and relaxing. Stirling can be a pain though, he doesn't like sitting down in the water. Mistress empties the tub in between my bath and Stirling's, so things don't transfer between us. After our baths we got thoroughly towel-dried, then spritzed with some lavender stuff. Mistress said it's to stop the itchies, I hope she's right. Then Mistress vacuumed the whole house again (she just did it a couple of days ago), then sprayed the carpets with something that smells like vinegar. Master wasn't impressed, so Mistress opened the front and back door to let the smell out. Now we'll snooze, feeling less stressed and a lot less itchy, finally......bye for now. xx

20 March 2023- Blessed Ostara or so Mistress has been saying to everyone. Sorry we haven't been posting, must do better at this. Been kinda busy walking and posing for pics as well as playing in the local park. Mistress has started a new business, with our approval. Pet-Friendly Rental Finders. She said she set up a FB group and a Twitter account. What she tells us is this: she searches 20+ sites for appropriate properties for her clients who have pets and need to relocate. Mistress says it takes the stress off them, they have enough to deal with. We should know, we had stress when we moved over here, and she was the one that found us our first pet-friendly place here in England. She says she asks for a very reasonable finders fee. If you know of anyone who needs help finding a pet-friendly rental, please send them her way.

7th-8th-9th March 2023
7 March 2023 Mistress woke up earlier than usual, this is a good thing, as we don’t like burning daylight hours. Up, dressed, got our vests on, she put some herbal anti-pest liquid on us and out we went. The ground and cars had some kind of strange white stuff on it. Didn’t look like snow that we’re used to, didn’t crunch like snow, but it was neat and didn’t chill our paws too much. Up to the grassy area, around the short block and home again. A brindle bulldog decided he was going to say something not nice and I told him to be quiet in no uncertain terms. I looked at Mistress after I said it and we walked on to the park. I did my business a second time there. All cleaned up, we walked on home. Anti-allergy paste given, breakfast served, now off to snooze. Mistress has promised to work with us on tricks later for our dog modelling future, that usually means more treats, YUM Laters! xx

4th March 2023
Wow, where does the morning go? 4th of March 2023, it’s now 1 pm! Sleep was interrupted at about 2 am this morning. I was snoozing comfortably with my back against Master’s back and the next thing I know, he’s getting up and dressed! It was almost like he was going to work, but it’s Saturday! Come to find out, he did go, but it was just a trial run day for a new job. Mistress had a major headache and shoulder pain so at 6 am she went downstairs, took two pain tablets, sent us out to the garden for a few, then we went back to bed. 8 am comes, and we’re all up and ready to go for a walk. Normal route, up to the grassy area, ball play, business done, walk towards town. But it was cut short, Master came driving up on his way home from work. He opened the back door and we jumped in. My paw is still a wee bit poorly, so Mistress promised to play in-house later. But when we got home, Mistress went off out the door as Stirling, Master and I went upstairs so Master could change his clothes. When Mistress returned, breakfast was served, eaten by all, then Stirling parked himself in front of the tele when it came on. Master was having a hard time getting it to play the show they missed the night before, and yet, Stirling was the one growling at the tele when it would buffer. Mistress laughed, Master got annoyed. But finally, it played. Stirling and I are off to snooze with promise of a soothing bath later. Bye for now. x

3rd March 2023
Good morning, it’s the 3rd of March (or so Mistress tells us), I’m Thistle, I figure it’s my turn to do an accounting of our morning. Mistress is getting up earlier and earlier, I guess that’s down to me and Stirling, and the day getting lighter earlier, but that’s all good. My way of getting her up is to whine and chatter, which is a little more annoying than Stirling’s licking of Mistress’ hand. The walk up to the grassy area was the normal, but we walked closer to Mistress, I think she’s doing something different with the leads, it feels nicer. No challengers today, which is good, but we give the parents and children that pass by on their way to school some amusement by running around the grassy area. Mistress unhooked us both and threw the ball for me. I am just so obsessed with that blue ball, it’s different than the other one I had, but I like it, it seems to last longer. I’d really rather be herding sheep or cows, but until that day, I’ll be content (and annoying) with the ball. Mistress seems to have caught on to how to tire me out quicker as it didn’t take as long this time. Mistress called us both back to her, took our leads and hooked them onto her belt, putting the ball and toy away. After we did our business and she picked up the solid parts, we walked by the bin, she dropped it off and we walked around what she calls the short block, but that usually ends up with us at the big grassy area and the cage. It’s got a solid surface and bars all around it, but we go in there for safety. I must have run a little too hard as my paw is sore now and I’m limping just a bit. Mistress gave us our anti-allergy herbs, our breakfast, and some fresh rain water in our bowl to drink. It tastes so good compared to the water from what she calls the tap. Mistress then called us outside to wipe us down with the non-drinking rain water from the wading pool. She took care to check and rinse off my paws, as she usually does when I’ve hurt it. Now Stirling and I are off to snooze as she works on reading aloud. Bye for now! x
