cat
It's been said that people that hate cats will come back as mice in their next life.
How a pet finds you when it's just right
I've always been a cat lover. Cats are awesome, majestic creatures, albeit a tad fickle and temperamental. You have to earn a cat's love, it's not just handed to you "free of charge". And once given, never take it for granted, for it's a precious thing. Adopting a cat changes your life; you just need to have the right perspective, keep an open mind, and more importantly, an open heart, and an abundance of lessons will be coming your way.

Sugarbear The Queen
Sugarbear When my cat Sugarbear come into my life had happened when I was with this guy named Bill. I had dated Bill for almost four years. When Bill and I first got together, I had just divorced my husband. I was in an awkward situation at that time. While I was dating Bill, I was still living in the same house as my husband. Where we lived, we were not allowed to have any animals at all.

The vanishing tabby
I have only had my tabby cat Boots for 2 weeks and we are just getting to know each other. He was skittish the first evening but every day since he has been a joy. Boots likes to lay on us when we are on the couch and if we get up to go to another room he will follow. He is curious natured as all cats are but has never been out of our sight for long until today. At 10:30 AM Boots perched on the back of the living room couch as I was writing stories. When I got up to get some water he went to the steps and ran up.

A Spooky Story
Late last summer, I was over at my best friend's house out in the middle of nowhere. This location is in the middle of farm fields and nothing as far as the eye can see, except for corn crop fields nearby. My family and I were visiting because we were planning our wedding in November 2020. My best friend was helping me plan out the wedding. She was also supposed to be my maid of honor, which did not end up working out in the end. So late that night, while we were planning the wedding, we decided to take a quote-on-quote, "Spooky," break by playing with the app called "Randonautica."

Iago's Origin Story
During the summer of 1996, I lived in Murfreesboro, TN. I was engaged to a guy that didn't really put me first, and ended up being abusive. Fortunately, I was subletting an apartment from local college students. Even though I was engaged, I wasn't included in get-togethers with his friends. I didn't know anyone, and couldn't really make friends while I was there. I was lonely.

Xena, Warrior Princess
Honeysuckle stared out of her cage at the people milling around the room lined with cages exactly like hers. Her ears flattened. She moved back into the corner of the cage and turned her back when the cage door was opened. This happened daily when her water bowl was refilled and the litter box scooped. She was shocked when hands lifted her and pulled her backwards out of the cage. Her claws extended on all four paws and flailed at the air. She was dropped in another cage. This one was lifted off the floor and carried out of the room. Honeysuckle hunkered down and watched the cage door, ears, whiskers and attention on high alert. She knew from experience that being moved could be a seriously dangerous event.

How adopting a cat taught me that love is endless and unconditional
I've wanted a cat for as long as I can remember, but my parents weren't easily convinced. It didn't help matters that my paternal grandmother - who was living with us at the time being - could not fathom an animal in the apartment. Humans and animals coexisting indoors?! What is this sorcery? Actually, I think her precise words were: "It's either the cat or me." Kind of a bummer.

Mittens
Wow! Where to even begin? The first time I saw this little furball. I thought, wow, my daughter would love to have this kitten. But at that time, she belonged to a friend of mine. It was the dead middle of winter when I had first seen this kitten. When I say dead middle of winter, I mean the temperature was in the negatives that winter.
