I'm Zee (she/her), a 22-year-old disabled person from Pennsylvania who's been writing since I was around 10 years old. I lost my love for writing in the bustle of life, but disability has given me plenty of time to get back into it!

In times of trouble, we often look to religion as a source of calm. Whether it be asking for prayers, attending services, or simply being in the presence of others who share our worldview, it can be a huge relief for anxiety about the future. When I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after a COVID infection, I looked to my own church community for comfort. What I found there was anything but comforting.

The Long Haul
In January of 2020 I reluctantly hauled myself back to college after winter break. I was a freshman four hours away from home in a new town with people I barely knew. It was stressful, but I was scraping by and finally starting to manage my ADHD again with frequent trips to the library so I could work in a quiet, comfortable environment with plenty of coffee.

The Trash Cat Who Trashes the Place
Moving to college wasn't an easy process for me. I suffer from a severe social phobia and have trouble connecting with peers. They only thing that's keeps me going at home is my beloved senior cat, Seal, who has been with me for over twelve years providing me with emotional support. When I moved four hours away, it effectively cut that tie and left me feeling totally lost. I started to relapse in my mental health and was seriously considering returning home as I couldn't imagine going any longer without a furry friend to keep me company.
