The Perfect Date Night. Top Story - March 2021.
I keep reminding myself that it's only a date. I haven't been on many, as the butterflies in my stomach keep reminding. The balmy evening breeze winds its way through the glistening streets, still damp from rain. It tousles my low ponytail, and I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. Despite the warmth, I pull my sweater a little tighter and look your direction, unable to help the smile tugging at my lips.

World of the Eastern Whip-poor-will
This bird has been made famous in poems, folk songs and literature due to its endless chanting talents on summer nights. It’s sort of like providing a romantic interlude. The Eastern Whip-poor-wills are real easy to hear but are difficult to see. They have a brindled plumage that blends in well with gray-brown leaf litter in the open forests where they make their home and breed and roost. The come out from perches at dawn and dusk and on moonlit nights to gather up insects in their cavernous mouths. Unfortunately, these once-common birds are on the decline in parts of their range due to the fact that open forests are being converted into suburbs or agriculture.

He Just Needed A Few More Months
I took my new wife and two new young daughters to the Humane Society for a kitten. They played with a cute black fuzzball in the meeting room, but he cried for his brother. Inevitably, we took home two tiny, fuzzy kittens, midnight black with white medallions on their chests. Cicero grew up loud and vocal; Rascal, the leader, had tiny mew. Cicero’s fur was a little silkier, Rascal’s was drier, and Cicero’s medallion was much more distinct.

Swish and Flick: Fascinating Facts About Squirrels (and Their Tails). Top Story - March 2021.
I'm an animal lover. I love pets and wild animals. I was a vegetarian for years because of animals. As a child, I loved watching Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel (remember Henry's Amazing Animals?). Years ago, during college, I even started an animal fan page. Unfortunately, as it happens, adulthood got very busy and I left some of my hobbies behind.
