From dwarf to giant: the rabbit that fooled us
When I moved to Athens, Greece in 2017, I fell in love with the city even though I had visited it many times. I arrived in March and was welcomed by the cool temperature of Spring and the quieter period where the city wasn't heaving with tourists.

The Day I Met You
So this is Naples! I haven’t been living here for long, so it’s time to explore. I'm working as an English foreign language teacher at a private school here. The job’s not great but it pays the bills, lets me see the country and keeps me in cigarettes and beer, and pizza, of course.

Chain of Custody
I almost always had a pet as a kid, either a dog or a cat or both. Then 40 years went by without any pets in the house. Now, for the past 20 years, my wife and I have shared space with cats and a dog, and they’ve left their indelible mark on us both.

Stray 2 Stay
When it comes to animal adoption stories, I have quite a few of them. However, to keep it short and brief, I'm going to discuss a story about a stray cat that we took in named "Snow". So this will indeed will be a snow story. Before I begin, I think it would do great justice to start with how my love for animals began, how it's going, and what I plan to do with it. I hope this read will encourage you to adopt a pet too one day.

A Little Dog Named Nibbles
To be honest, I don’t remember all the events and conversations that lead to it. I have little flashes of memories here and there. I remember meeting our property manager at Five Guys to negotiate the terms. I remember searching for her with no luck. And I remember the day we found her. I sometimes wish I could trace all the memories back to the beginning. Where was the initial spark? Perhaps it was the summer before when my first dog passed away while I was studying abroad. Maybe it was the forceful college dorms that disallowed dogs for my first two years of college. I cannot in honesty tell you the origin story and it’s probably not that interesting anyway. The moral of the story is that almost 5 years ago something really cool happened.

Guardian angels
If I were to tell my friends that I’m entering a writing contest about a topic that’s the dearest to my heart, they wouldn’t have to venture a second guess. They’d know that it is about animals. Writing a long essay about my pets would be quite a chaotic process, for I find it quite difficult to put all my thoughts, feelings and experiences about my furry friends in a certain mould of words. However, I can say with certain confidence that the stories of my unbelievably cute and therapeutic pets will help the reader overlook my amateur writing!

Kitty Kisses: How I Met My Bestie
There are countless stories of pets saving the lives of their owners: cats saving children from dog attacks or protecting them from the freezing cold; dogs saving their owners from snakes or wild coyotes, among many heroic tails.

From Diggy to Bolt
About ten years ago I rescued Diggy. I just lost my dog previously, a Scottish terrier. I had him for fifteen years. The loss of him was traumatic. He didn’t want to let go, and he passed in my room when I was holding his paw. Thirty minutes before he passed, I had this feeling that he was just going to pass. I’ll never know how I knew but later on it happened a couple more times that I felt someone was going to pass away.

I Just Hate Pets
Before you start hurling abuses at me and think that I am a stone-hearted animal hater, you are mistaken. Neither the title is clickbait or a lie. I stay with what I say, but it's an entirely different perspective, which some might not agree with, but that's fine. We all have another way of looking at things, and this is mine.

To Love and Be Loved
Over the course of my twenty-five years here on earth, I’ve had my fair share of pets. I’ve had guinea pigs, a dog, rabbits, fish, lizards. The first lasting impression I’ve had from a pet, though, was my rescue dog Kelsey. I had wanted a dog for so long and my parents wanted to fulfill that wish. They had tried to bring home a dog for me once before, and she had run away as soon as my dad opened the car door. We never saw her again. Then, a family who couldn’t take care of their dog anymore, gave him to us. That didn’t work out either as he would bite and scratch us. We ended up giving him back for obvious reasons.
