Crystal
My 17 year old Jack Russell Terrier was moving slower and not as spry as she once was. It was time to find her a friend a puppy that she could help train. I was looking for a Jack Russell as she was my heart and I loved her dearly, but I know she wasn’t going to last forever. As I was looking, I came across a homely looking little terrier “X” with big eyes. I had no idea what kind of terrier she could possibly be, but those eyes, they looked in my soul and they are intelligent just what I need in a puppy (puppy as in a generic term, I call all dogs “puppy”).

She Chose Me
When I was fourteen years old, Boots, my adopted three year old farm cat, developed feline leukemia. We had to put him down, and I was heartbroken. He had been my little buddy and had been so full of energy until his last week. As any pet owner knows, you can never replace a previous pet, but when a friend encouraged me to check out some rescue kittens a few months later, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a kitten to cuddle again.

Our Tiny Roo Dog
This is Roo - like as in Kangaroo because of his giant ears (his original name was Casper). He also goes by piggy as he snorts when he eats and runs. Senor longbody is another favourite nickname because he is part daschund and has a very long bod!

Hook, Line, and Sinker
The more I think about how I came to adopt my beloved cat, Fitz, the more I think it was just meant to be. I won't pretend to know the exact day I adopted this friendly feline: not because it's not important, just because I have a hard time mentally tracking dates. It was sometime in late November of 2019. One of my good friends from work had heard me talk many times about wanting to have a cat to bond with in my recently-moved-into apartment, but I'm sure I'd also told her that I wasn't quite ready to adopt yet. It was financially doable, but I generally try to have a safety net of emergency funds. Perhaps I just needed a little push to take the leap of solo pet ownership. I'd almost always had a cat around staying with my mother, but it had been some years since enjoying the longstanding presence of a cat companion. And I'd certainly never been the sole caretaker; I think that was the real cause for hesitation. Anyhow, it came to be that while I was out with my friend we ended up visiting an animal shelter. She had two cats of her own already, and I think she was just really excited for me to have one for myself. I didn't yet realize that her goal for the evening seemed to be putting me in the environment most suited for me to give in to committing to adopting a new pet. We just "ended up" at the adoption center to "look" at the animals, but it wasn't a zoo. I knew this was a trick, and I certainly fell for it.

When Magnolia Blossomed
Maggie, Mags, Magpie. Boo Boo Butt, Boobinator, The Boo Boo Meister. Baby Girl. Little My Little. And let’s not forget to mention her human grandmother’s favorite, Nudie Bug. These are all pet names for the sweetest little soul, and yes, Magnolia knows them all. When I first saw her on the local animal shelter’s website, I was at a point in my life where I was heartbroken. I could tell by the picture of the tiny white dog standing against the blue background with her head hanging with a chain around her neck, looking dejected, that she was too. Her description told of a good little mama who had just had a litter of puppies in the shelter at only nine months old. All but one had died from Parvo. Her previous home was in a house with close to twenty other dogs. When the owner passed away, the family surrendered all the dogs to the shelter, their fate unknown. Her story and her sad little face tugged at my heart, but I wasn’t in a position at that moment to move forward. Or so I thought.

The paws that saved me
When you’re born and raised in a third world country, you start believing there’s some sort of rule or something, like for example “YOU HAVE TO GET THE HOUSE FULL OF PETS” nobody really knows where they come from, some are found in the streets and some just kind of show up.

My Name is Kia
My name is Kia and this is my story. I was born on April 3rd 2018 in South Indian Lake, Manitoba. I was born with 2 sisters and 4 brothers. My birth mother is a dog. I don't really remember what she looks like, but I remember the smell of her warm milk and the feel of her furry warm body.

A not complete guide of how to care for your piggies!
Most people think that furry potatoes are just like couch potatoes; they don’t do much. People believe that guinea pigs just live their lives eating vegetables and hay, pooping, and napping. In reality, people are right to think that these adorable furry potatoes don’t do much. However, they’re cute as fuck, and that makes up for everything else.

Savannah, Mackenize, Alyssa, Jacob and Ella
She was 18 here..In our duplex in Savannah.. Savannah Marie - When I went to adopt Savannah I walked into the Humane Society of AZ looking for a kitten, I was a sophomore at the University of Arizona, had my own studio apartment and was bartending on the USAF base to pay for because my mother had told me she would pay the rent and flaked out on it like everything else she ever offered to do that I ended up having to take financial responsibility for from my car, to health insurance when I lived at home, to wisdom teeth and I didn't want to live alone.

Ruby
Ruby Lead paws scruffles von puppyduck fur prawnius the third is her technical name, it has been built over the 3 almost 4 years that she has graced us with her presence. Her spoiled ways are not only tolerated in this house, but they are encouraged. From her sweet homemade chaise in the sun spot at the front window, to the couch seat where she hides her kibble (in my couch, really!) to the many other places we have maintained and organized around the house, strewn with blankets and toys, Ruby rules the roost.
