Best Ways to Prevent Ticks on Dogs
When you go camping or hiking, people always make a point of telling you to wear long, thick socks to keep you from getting ticks. Well, your dogs can't do that. So you're going to have to find another way to keep them safe from those little bloodsuckers. The best ways to prevent ticks on dogs include vigilance, preventative treatments, and having a good amount of background knowledge.

The Irony of Conservation
Long before an American dentist shot the village icon, Cecil the Lion, the debate on African conservation has raged. The “war,” it seems, was only fiercened by the events that followed the fatal shot by Walter Palmer. Conservationists have been debating for many years now on whether or not hunting played a part in conservation. However, in recent years, studies and research has begun to show that hunting is part of conservation. Despite the recent evidence, most of the general population believe that banning trophy hunting altogether will solve the wildlife problem. While this solution may seem to be the best option, once one looks at the whole picture, it becomes evident that hunting plays an essential role in conservation. Banning hunting will not help the conservation effort due to the fact that, without hunting, there is no incentive for the African population to protect wildlife, and eco-tourism as an alternative to hunting will not be effective in remote or unstable areas.

Serving a Purpose
This is about my service dogs and myself with a little advice. Luna is pictured by the lake. Luna is the mother of Arlo, both dogs are a mix breed and they both serve a purpose for me, their owner and dog trainer. They are my Service dogs. Now how ridiculous is it that you just heard a dog trainer has a service dog. I am sure you are thinking about something along the lines of "now that is just not fair", well if it makes you feel any better it was not planned that I have one. Luna has a knack for being there when I have my panic attacks or anxiety issues, she has interrupted me many a times in stressful situations trying to ground me, she is really one of the key reasons I am able to do what I do without losing my composure. An example was a dog fight at the dog park that I helped break up, my nerves were shot and the fact that the other dog had an arterial bleed just made it worse. I was holding one of the dogs while the owner held hers and with shaky hands tried to stop the bleeding. Luna dropped playing with a ball, her favorite thing to do, and came right to my side, the same side the dog I was holding was on; I felt her head against my leg and then felt a sense of calmness, called the vet for the owner and went along with the day. On a side note the dog that had the arterial bleed is fine and back playing at the park. Luna really is an amazing dog. Yet she is not only in tune with me, she also loves to help and comfort others which makes her a wonderful candidate for animal assisted activities dog also known as a therapy dog.

What I've Learned From Owning a Shiba Inu
So on June 8, 2016, my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were at a pet store so we could just play with a few puppies. We weren't thinking about bringing one home. That is until they brought Lucy out to us. The next day I came home from work and there is this Shiba Inu puppy running up to me and I don't know where it came from. At this point I knew ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about the breed except they were the dogs mostly used in memes because of their face. So the more I researched the breed and the longer that I've had her, I have learned a few things about them. So for those who are thinking about getting a Shiba, give these things a read to see if a Shiba Inu is right for you.

Meet The Wedgehill Three
This is Rainbow. The oldest of the Wedgehill 3 who at some thirty plus years is old enough to know better. In her dotage she is not shy of feeling feisty trotting or even cantering up and down the fence line when she knows it is time to come in at the end of the day. Nor is she shy of playing 'the matriarch'. As mares do putting the two youngsters in their place with a swift nip or even a well aimed double barrel kick at one of the two geldings if they dare to enter her personal space without an invitation.

4 Reasons Why Faking a Service Dog Is More than Just ILLEGAL
You’ve seen them around, those ladies with their little dog under their arm at the mall, or in the cart at the grocery store. If the building is not a dog-friendly facility, then they must be service dogs right? WRONG. It’s easy to tell: Service dogs should not be carried, but walk neatly beside you, service dogs do not bark (or yap) at or growl at other people, and overall maintain a calm composure. Faking a service dog is a federal crime under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which real service dogs are protected by. This criminal act does not only affect the individual, but the ENTIRE service dog community.

Lesser Known Animal Saviours and Charities Worth Donating To
Whilst my passion and love for all animals means that choosing the charities for this piece was incredibly hard, I decided to go a little bit off the beaten path and not opt for obvious choices that already have huge worldwide organisations and adverts all over the television. Instead, I went with a few independent rescuers and animal lovers that are close to my heart.

The Puppy Test
Puppies are some of the cutest animals on the planet. They also are a great way to get used to working with children or having children in your life. It is a simple test my parents mentioned to me. If you are thinking of children, get a puppy and see where to go from there. They are a great start for some of the basic needs for learning how to raise children.
