View from the Dog House (Pt. 4)
As dogs that blog, we are clearly more than a cut above the rest; and judging from the photos, we are obviously magnificent specimens—not that we consider ourselves to be dogs, you understand. That said, we do have selective canine habits. So for example, we sniff bums but only each other's—we don't mix with other dogs. We are also great fans of sending pee mails whilst out on our travels, which sometimes confuses she who thinks she should be obeyed at all times.

Family Goodbyes
There are many things that make being a veterinarian a unique experience. One of the more profound for me is this: that on occasion I have the opportunity to care for a pet from its earliest weeks of puppy- or kitten-hood through it’s geriatric years. You won’t find this in the human medical professions, for better or worse. In my practice, being in both a tourist location and close to two large military complexes, there are clients that come, go, and move away. There are pets that I see one or two times, maybe already in their twilight years, or for a second opinion, soon to return to their regular veterinarian. So, it’s a special occurrence when I have the benefit of following a pet from its first weeks of life into its last days

Have you ever had trouble trying to find your cat? If so, you're not alone. I have trouble finding my cat all the time. Mimo is great at hiding. I got Mimo when she was about a month old and I was starting my freshman year in high school. She was so tiny, I could hold her with my hands cupped together. I adopted her from a shelter. She was a gift for my birthday because my first cat had died several years before and I was ready to have a cat.

The Birdfolk
Long ago, before Strangers came to the island, there were only the animals. They had learned the ways of the island, learned to listen to its song and feel its touch, and they had come to live together peacefully, each of them contributing to the survival of all. The birds, high on wing, could see furthest and fly high enough to see all the happenings of the island, and would report to others where to find shelter, fresh water, and safety. They were apart from the other animals, because they could escape to the sky while the land animals could not. They knew a freedom and had a way of seeing all things that land animals could not understand, and this gave some of them the gift of Third Sight, the ability to know things before they had come to pass.
