Working hard and smart for success

Get one step closer!

In life, we must put in the necessary effort - not just in our careers but also in our personal relationships. No great accomplishment can be accomplished without significant sacrifice, and this is something I have always felt to be true. In my mind, my losses and difficulties were just transitional periods that would ultimately bring me to where I wanted to be. However, there were times when I was disappointed and fatigued because my efforts appeared to be for nothing, and my efforts looked to be in vain.

At some point, you will begin to question why your efforts seem to be in vain; it will seem as if the whole universe has conspired against you, notwithstanding your best efforts. Nonetheless, don't give up just yet! Even if your efforts may not be sufficient at this moment, there are still things you can do.

We have such hectic lives these days that we rarely have time to take a step back and consider where we're going. While you want to be happy and successful, is the route you're currently on moving you in the direction of your goals? Do you find yourself feeling dissatisfied or disheartened as a result of life's obstacles? How long have you been trapped in a rut, and what have you done to get out?

You will not be able to go forward until you first accept that you have a problem and that you may need the assistance of others to overcome it. Despite the fact that your calendar is completely occupied, plan some quiet time for yourself to consider what you could be doing incorrectly. A few minutes before night or in the early mornings just before the sun rises are good times to do this. Choose a time that is most convenient for you and your schedule.

After you've finished reflecting, take out a piece of paper or a notepad and jot down your life goals and ambitions. You may be as outrageous and inventive as you want! Keep in mind that this is only for your benefit and that of no one else. Do you wish to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian? Alternatively, maybe you want to start your own firm. Take a few minutes to jot them down. It's an excellent technique to remind yourself of the areas in which you should concentrate your efforts.

I really think that hard effort pays off. It is via this process that we acquire qualities such as diligence, patience, and thankfulness. Although putting out effort into anything is crucial, where we direct our efforts is even more critical.

Do you remember the tale of the woodcutter in the woods that Jesus told? One day, when he was cutting down a tree, he was stopped by a stranger. As the gentleman pointed out, he should spend some time honing his saw in order to do his task more quickly. The woodcutter grew enraged and yelled at him, telling him to leave. Even after the sun had set that day, the woodcutter had not completed his task of chopping down that one tree.

The moral of the tale is that you shouldn't only work harder; you should work SMARTER. If the woodcutter had spent a few minutes polishing his tools, he could have done his task in half the time and with far better results than he did.

Hard effort alone will not always be sufficient to bring us to where we want to go. We also need honesty and humility, which enable us to confess to ourselves that we are making a mistake. This requires us to be creative in order to find solutions to the difficulties we face. If your efforts are ineffective, take a step back, reflect, and try something different. Take it one step at a time. Take it one day at a time, and be patient with yourself.

You shouldn't be frightened to alter your route. No one else, except YOU, is the captain of your ship—no one else. So, point your sails towards the direction of the horizon that only you can see.
