Why You Should Relax on the Porch?
Porch therapy for tranquility

“Nowadays, people are so jeezled up. If they took some chamomile tea and spent more time rocking on the porch in the evening, listening to the liquid song of the hermit thrush, they might enjoy life more.” ~ Tasha Tudor
When I stumbled upon this quote from writer and illustrator Tasha Tudor, I loved it.
That’s what we need to do to calm down our frayed nerves and soothe our exhausted bodies.
That’s what I used to do after coming home from my job as a laboratory technician.
I would change out of my blue scrubs and wear a loose dress. Then, I would brew some milk and ginger tea, and roast a corn on the cob.
I would sit on my back patio, legs stretched out, with the snacks and a book.
I would appreciate the giant fig tree illuminated by the setting sun. I would gaze at the mimosa tree with parrots nibbling on its puffy pink flowers. Sometimes, I saw a hawk on the tree.
I would listen to the chirping of finches on a tree snag. I would rest my eyes on the blooming acacia and cape honeysuckle.
It was a restorative ritual.
Porches are not mere parts of the house, but they are sentiments. When you do nothing but sit on the porch, you do a big favor to yourself. That’s what we call mindfulness these days.
Let’s enjoy some amazing quotes on porches. Just reading them will make you feel at peace because of what porches offer.

Let's see some porch quotes.
“A best friend is someone with whom you can sit on the porch, without a word, and then walk away with the feeling that it was the best conversation you ever had in your life.” — Paulo Coelho
“I like to sit on the front porch of an old cabin I built in the woods and just listen to the birds; I like to fish in the pond, and I always throw the fish back.” — Johnny Cash
“My ideal summer day was reading on the porch.” — Harold E. Varmus
“Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the treehouse; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape.” — Harper Lee
“Heaven is a house with porch lights.” — Ray Bradbury
“The people in your life are like the pillars on your porch. Sometimes they hold you up, and sometimes they lean on you. Sometimes it’s enough to know they are standing by.” — Merle Shain
“One of these days I will be an old man in a rocking chair on a porch. Wouldn’t it be nice to have my whole life there to read and kind of re-live it.” — Gregg Allman
“There is a child in every one of us who is still a trick-or-treater looking for a brightly-lit front porch.” — Robert Breault
“Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica.” — Abraham Lincoln
“I’m an old-fashioned guy… I want to be an old man with a beer belly sitting on a porch, looking at a lake or something.” — Johnny Depp

Takeaway
I would recommend my readers to take a break from the TV screen, computer monitor, or scrolling social media feed, and come sit on the porch.
In fact, not only a porch, but a balcony, patio, or a nook with a window will do. The goal is to pause and soak in the nature.
Sit there on a chair, and contemplate the honey-colored sunset vista, the bees hovering on the myrtle flowers, the falling leaves, the shrill sound of crickets, see the moon and the stars. There are hundred things to do.
Life should not be that hectic, that you can’t carve out time to sit and reflect on a porch. If you can’t, you are doing life wrong. Rectify it.
Lose your stressed-self on the porch. And find your relaxed-self.
Make sure to have some moments of solitude. Whether it’ a backyard, porch, patio, balcony, or window, it does not matter. Just sit quietly and rest your taxed brain. Enjoy some mindfulness to declutter.

Oh!! I love to sit on my porch watching the world go by.
I do this every day. Sometimes I read a novel or do one of my crafts or draw or just sit with eyes closed listening to the birds. Totally agree with you as long as your porch and yard has things that are pretty and just not a dirt patch.
Porch therapy: because sometimes the only thing your brain really needs is a chair, a sunset, and to not be wifi-compatible for an hour.
If my porch was like yours I would be there all day it’s beautiful 🌼🌼🌼
