WHAT'S WRONG WITH BEING A POTATO?
THE STEREOTYPE CREATED
Let me just count the number of times I have seen on the internet that people refer to themselves as a ''POTATO''(yes the vegetable one), so the count is 10…100…1000….10000…. Trust me it's a lot!.
Few days ago a friend visited me, and we did our usual talks, and suddenly she said “I don't know why do I feel like a potato these days, just lying there and doing nothing”. That was the first time I realized that people use this term to tell how miserable they are and are not able to accomplish anything which is not something comparable to a potato, let me explain.
A plant has different parts like the stem, leaves, flower and the roots (hope you all are aware of) but some plants like the potato plant are quite unique because they have special roots that store food. The storage product of the potato plant is called a Potato, simple right? But attend me for a minute. That tiny storage does wonders, it stores food for the odd situations of the plant almost like a plan B, so even if the plant dies due to unfavorable environmental situations it still has a hope to continue living. The potato has tiny little buds present on it, and it can independently give rise to a beautiful plant back again.
And are we all forgetting about all that crispy fries that come from a potato like who said being a potato is useless? Jokes apart, but it's all about the little efforts you do in life, sometimes they might not have a short term benefit but in the long run they will surely give rise to a wonderful meaning in your life. It's just like how I heard ROB DIAL (mindset mentor) say in a podcast that sometimes you might not see instant results but when you give a habit the time that it needs it flourish into noticeable results. Remember how we all brush our teeth twice a day, so do we see a change every day? No, we just have a healthy set of teethes to smile from because we brushed daily.
And just because you are grinding and gritting today doesn't mean you are not accomplishing anything, it means that you are an organ of perennation waiting to blow into an amazing self and not just a potato. Therefore, just like that you have to bear with the harsh situations to make you that independent version of yourself that you were never before. And as the great saying goes,
''In order to become someone you have never been, you have to do something you have never done''
So what's the point of being a potato? What's the moral here? And the answer is as simple as the heading of this article there is absolutely nothing wrong with feeling like a potato. It's completely okay to feel like you are useless, helpless, miserable, nobody likes you and all the other bluff but remember you are just like a potato waiting and grinding to become a beautiful plant. If you have put the right efforts in and did all that you could then just wait until it's the right time to shine. There is perhaps a reason why you and all of us are called the most civilized species to ever exist just like the potato being called the organ of Perennation.
