Bravely Writing All I Couldn't Say Before
Hey You, When I was a teenager, I wasn’t crazy about myself. If you’ve ever been a teenager, you can probably relate. Why did you hate yourself? For me, I detested how shy I was. I loathed how I found it so difficult to speak my mind. I was so jealous of all the people who, I believed, had such an easy time being confidently themselves while the words I wanted to speak were hopelessly trapped in my chest, squished down behind an awkward giggle and over-eager smile.

How Vocal+ Is Helping Me Reach My Goals for 2021
I have always known that I wanted to be a writer, but I didn’t know where to start. The concept of “just start writing,” made no sense to me at all. I didn’t feel prepared or like I had enough time to be a writer. I equated the idea of “just start” with jogging-in-place to prepare for a marathon: It didn’t seem productive!

21 Things to Remember in 2021
As Albert Einstein himself said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results." That, to me, slowly translates to- you can't start fresh with old habits. Getting rid of our bad habits is difficult and demands unforeseen courage and strength. Whatever your new year's resolutions are, or how you perceive a healthy lifestyle, here are some thoughts that inspire me to keep working on my wellness goals. I am sure they will motivate you too. (I have taken all the pictures used in the story.)

The Queen is Going to Bed
I am the queen of resolutions. Something about new beginnings and blank slates and doing the impossible just reels me in like no other. It’s not particularly out of character. I’ve had my head stuck far up in the clouds for as long as I can remember. I have to assume that all dreamers are suckers for New Year’s resolutions. I’m guessing that all of the rest of them are just dying for an excuse to dream a little bigger or commit to something unrealistic. Either that, or it truly is just me.

A pinch of fairy dust and other secret lessons : The ultimate guide to a fresh start.
And so it came... the grand finale we have all so eagerly anticipated. The old year has rolled around like an avalanche, crushing under it the normality of life we were so accustomed to and bringing forth a special opportunity. An opportunity to start fresh and begin again - this year, hopefully, equipped with more luck and less restraints.

Choose your Attitude Consciously
We are taught in modern self-help literature that ‘life isn’t fair’. We are taught to choose our attitudes in how to deal with life’s unfairness. As Victor Frankl, Auschvitz survivor and psychotherapist states in 'Man’s Search for Meaning '

The Secret To Making The Most of Your Mornings. Created with: Lull.
The past few new years, my resolution has remained the same: to have a more productive morning. I’ve had this idea in my head of what the perfect day looks like for me, and it always begins with an early morning. It is well known there exists a relationship between waking up before sunrise and success. It seems that the most successful individuals understand the importance of getting a head start to their day, which is what led me to find my perfect mattress.

One Resolution for a Healthy New Year
When thinking about what healthy resolutions we should take, most of us gloss over the most important component to enable a healthy lifestyle: our brain. How many of us have set resolutions for ourselves just to quit halfway through January (if not sooner)?

Thank You Vocal For Giving Me a Mountain to Climb
Writing is hard work done in solitary aloneness with the hope that others will find your words appealing. Reaching those significant others can be almost impossible without a mountain-like platform from which to speak.

Falling Apart... Again
The piece of writing that follows was queued to publish to my blog in March of last year... and then my son died. I cringe when I look at the person I was back then. So optimistic. So many freaking silver-linings. But I'm also in awe of past-me: how she could string words together and paint pictures. How she truly believed that everything would be okay.

Pandemic Life Advice from a Self-Help Book Addict
"I'm a liar. And I don't care who knows it." That was the opening line of my first "self-help" book. I put "self-help" in quotes like that because I think people associate it with stupid, repetitive, and a waste of time - and I can attest that I used to be one of those people. Then, I read Shonda Rhimes.

This is my courageous life, show me yours
I recently stumbled across my answers to some Courageous Living exercises from Your Courageous Life by the wonderful Kate Courageous (Kate Swoboda). They were written as a predictive vision of my best possible self, many years ago, and at the risk of great personal embarrassment I’ve decided to post them here.
