healing
How to heal fully and properly.
life imitates art
Some people are born poets. Their souls rage the moment they are ripped from the womb, lungs aching and heart ready to burst out of a too-frail chest. Some people are born dancers—they fall, more than you could imagine anyone possibly could, yet they’re the ones who never give up. Who never look back, no matter how hard the choreography gets or how badly their bodies fail them when their dreams grow past their cracked ribcage. Some people are born artists—the smell of paint and the snowy gleam of an empty canvas gives them a high that no drug can replicate. Some people are born lovers—no matter what their object of affection is, their cause or passion—they cling to joy with every ounce of their being because they know that without love, life has no meaning at all. And some people are born fighters—they know the world owes them nothing, yet they create a life worth bleeding for. There are tears in their eyes, and if you follow them—as many are wont to do, with such saints—you will find their path marked with shards of their sundered hearts.

Lead by Example
Inner Peace. Those two words together seem unreachable at times. In today’s world that is so fast paced and unforgiving we forget to stop and smell the roses. So many times when we could be doing something that brings us inner peace we find ourselves scrolling through our devices, looking at other peoples lives. I long for the days of a more simplistic lifestyle but it seems that if you are not connected you cannot thrive in today’s society. At least that is how the system is made to make you feel.

Chocolate Cake Relief Effort
Twelve-year-old Jerrine sat on the street corner underneath the lemonade stand sign her dad had made out of wood scraps the night before. Two hours. Two hours of nothing, nobody, not even a look or a wave as cars passed by. It was only fifty cents a cup. Why didn’t folks around here want to support her cause?

Dear Depression
Dear Depression, As hard as it has been to live my life without holding your hand, I have to now stand on my own. For a long time, I have taken your advice to withdraw from my family and dear friends. You lead me to believe that silence was the best way to cope with sorrow. I believed you when you told me that no one loved me. I really didn’t understand why you wanted me all to yourself. Truth is, you were quite selfish. You knew all along that sharing me with others would be your sacrifice to allows others to show me that I am not alone. Your days of trying to convince me that life is not worth living are over. I spent all my dinners with just you. I turned down lunch invites from co workers to be with you. You blinded me from the sunshine and warmth of happiness and joy. No longer will I give you any more of my days. I deserve better and I’m moving on.

Peace of Me
[inspiration] — my struggle with existential angst has been lifelong—before i even knew there was a term for it, i felt it. these feelings stayed tucked for most of my life, that and the off and on suicidal feeling. i always try my best to show up kindly, to put my best foot forward, because it is in these actions that i think i can make up for the internal dread i sometimes experience. i know that my own disguise is well hidden, so it makes me wonder who else may be doing the same. i want to make things better not only for myself, but for others as well—for anybody who might've been hiding, like me.

The Layers of Coco
As the day comes to an end all I can do is sit and think about the girl that I once called my sister/best friend. Like how did we come to this how did we lose each other was it because of him the one I called my ex lover? Well now it doesn't matter I've lost them both and it hurts like being cut at the throat. They will never know how down i've been though. Mind isn't at ease and heart is on freeze, but all I want to do is scream. Can't allow that to continue to beat me down and this is why.

Painting. Dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression.
Painting, I believe, can have a positive impact on our mental health. I know there are days where I'm feeling stressed, anxiety, and depression and I just need a quiet moment to settle down, grab a snack and a cup of tea, and just get to painting. I find painting to be very relaxing and a way to escape from the stresses of our everyday life. I know when I'm feeling depressed, anxious, or stressed I find certain colors, styles and decorations of paintings can really make a positive impact and make you feel much more calm and relaxed. So in this entry I'm going to discuss four ways painting can make a positive impact on you.

A Kiss Without Lips
"...But to the atheists and the priesthood, both believed that going the other direction is how to become lost. So what could a simple sinner like myself do? To be, or not to be. To believe or not to believe. Either way, it seemed as if I would be on the losing side."

Go Ahead, Sing Your Heart Out
Singing is the most direct way I know of to arrive at a place of centered calm, where I feel grounded. With just a few lines of intentional singing, my entire perspective can be transformed, my mood entirely shifted, my spirits lifted. Singing is a birthright, yet for many of us, the wonderful tool of our song-voice is an underutilized gift. My wish for humanity is that we might all sing, every day. It is an essential part of being human, and the world would be a better place if we were to realize this.

MY DEAR,
There are days in which the only thing you’ll want to do, it’ll be to forget the mess you’re in. You will be upset. Upset on the situation. On how you did not manage the situation in that perfect manner you expect of yourself to have done it. Because when you were not impeccable and perfect as desired to have been and failed it, you have failed yourself. This form of self-criticism is lowering your self-esteem levels, simply because you’re trying to be more than what a human being can be: a robot with all the right moves and words, having the best solution and the fast paced style to deal with problems in that exceptional manner everyone strives to embrace. All of that is the embodiment of perfectionism’s symptoms. Being afraid to be wrong, to act wrong, to be vulnerable, being afraid to ask others for help to not seem weak in other peoples’ eyes. Afraid that you will lose your power in your own eyes, most of all, you fear that. Because you are not at the level that you imagined or desired yourself to be at by this age/time/etc.

WE CANNOT BLOOM WHEN IT’S DARK
I am fighting the forces that try to down me. These forces are sometimes invisible because they are subtle. They come from lots of things that we deal with on a daily basis. These are forces of the world. Of the society we live in. These are compromises that try to collide us into deals we do not want to do, but capture our souls with some incentives we believe we need. We are made wishful for things we do not require. We are made believe that we are less than what we truly are.
