Did You Just Send Me A Friend Request?
Here we go again. That heart-wrenching message came in today from a friend stating they think I've been hacked. "Did you just send me a friend request? Because if you didn't, you might want to reset your password." So I log into my account and proceed to reset my password for the third time in a couple of months.

Pond Reflections and New Beginnings
She met Gary at the frozen pond where families went to skate on the weekends. It was bitter cold, but the sun was out. With warm gloves, scarf, and hat in place, Janet got out of her 1959 Ford Fairlane and closed the door. The snow crackled under her rubber boots as she wandered closer. She owned ice skates but had never really learned to skate. At best, she would put them on, step onto the ice, and immediately fall. But he was worth it. Sitting down on a nearby bench, she took another look around.

What lies beneath the surface
It was a Tuesday when his mother began sensing something was wrong, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. James had come home from elementary school with a scrape under his chin. She had asked him what happened, and he said he tripped on the walkway at school on the way to class. She doubted it, but let it go and nonchalantly asked if it bled and if his teacher knew. He said it was fine.

How a picture can bring back life
Whether you are an amateur or a professional, photography has a way of bringing an inner peace to the soul. It is a permanent reminder of a moment in time that can never be reproduced. I have always appreciated how life can be preserved and remembered by looking at a photograph. How I actually learned to use photography for more than something to fill my photo album is another thing. It is learning to appreciate each moment, the world as it is right at that moment, that helps take the stress out of my day and brings me back to life.

I will never forget that moment
The sunset was perfect that evening. The hot summer breeze blew calmly over the pond where the bride stood next to her groom for the photo shoot. It was their dream come true, she wore her embellished gown, he wore his blues. She held her bouquet made of blue and green hydrangeas and white peonies at her hip making sure to smile ever so slightly as she gazed into his eyes. How can this moment last forever? She felt the strong bicep under his coat as she squeezed his arm and never wanted to let him go. Her marine. Her husband.

Chocolate Cake Relief Effort
Twelve-year-old Jerrine sat on the street corner underneath the lemonade stand sign her dad had made out of wood scraps the night before. Two hours. Two hours of nothing, nobody, not even a look or a wave as cars passed by. It was only fifty cents a cup. Why didn’t folks around here want to support her cause?

We passed it every Saturday, the old weathered barn sitting just off the winding driveway down the hill to my grandparents' farmhouse. I thought nothing of it, until now. What words, what stories would an old barn have to tell about? It is in our nature to hear and then tell of the places we've been and how they make up the days and years that shape our lives.

Time and Fortune
This was a moment in time that I never wanted to face. That phone call from the nursing home where my grandmother had been fighting her battle with breast cancer was happening. Not wanting to answer and hear bad news, I let it ring at least five times before answering. Looking at the caller I.D. one last time, I pressed the button.
