THANKFUL
I know that when 2020 started we were all excited about a new decade. I don't think any of us knew that the start of the decade would be like this. It all seemed ok then one day we woke up and the world was chaotic, when we entered any grocery store the shelfs were almost bare, we just couldn't believe it. Little did we know that was only the start, That in the days and months to come we would lose loved one's to this virus, and our lives as we new it would be over. This year has been hard on all of us, we all hope that this new normal will end soon. As we head back into lock down again we all wonder how long it will go on.

Thankful for COVID-19
Before you get all feisty with me on how COVID-19 has taken away the lives of many and ruined even more of them... Let me remind you that I'm writing what COVID-19 meant for me and only for me. Am I selfish for doing that? Probably. However, if this year taught me anything it is to be selfish. Again, don't start talking to me about wearing masks and washing your hands, I do all that and I'm not talking about ignoring the virus. I'm talking about being selfish in life and always putting myself first. This year taught me self care and appreciation for little things. This year taught me that it's okay to switch off my phone and unplug from the world. It's okay not to pay attention to the world's biggest issues and the whole of humanity falling apart just because it's simply too much to take in. What's most important, thanks to the COVID-19 I took a deep breath, looked inside my soul and realized how much wasted potential there is within me. And I couldn't take it anymore.

Gratitude WILL Change your Life.
Studies show that if we think of 5 things we are grateful for everyday, that our general mood and attitude about life will change more than we ever thought possible. And this year, I think we all may need this positivity back into our lives. In today’s world we often find ourselves obsessing over the things we don’t have; we compare our bodies to unrealistic standards we see on Instagram, we fantasize about living unrealistic lives that we see on social media, and we fail to notice that what we have in front of us is good enough. So to start to be grateful for things, we need to stop wanting more and be happy with what we do have. Instead of comparing our bodies and lives to instagram influencers, compare ourselves to the almost 600,000 people that will go without a place to sleep tonight in the United States. Just about the same number of people will be hungry before they go to bed tonight. Some people would do anything to have your life.

The Taste of Life
I am about to throw a friend of mine a baby shower. In doing so, I have set up a Whatsapp group with her favourite people and there is no WhatsApp group complete without a cover photo. So, I scrolled through a year’s worth of shots to find a decent one of her, preferably without anyone else in the background. To my surprise, the most recent one I could find was New Year’s Eve 2019. We had all dressed up as characters from a murder mystery and my beautiful friend was in a maid’s outfit, holding a glass of martini in one hand and her skirt in the other – posing like the classy bird she is. Yes, I chose that picture as the cover photo for her baby shower.

Boots
In Texas, boots are as fundamental as cold beer and BBQ, Bluebonnets in Spring and Friday Night Football. The best thing about it, you do not have to be a rootin tootin, tobacco spittin, small town livin, Texan, to be able to wear them, freely as you choose. I have been in meetings with board members and business owners, all wearing boots. Typically, the fancier the boots, the less opportunity they are to be subject to outdoor conditions. I have worked on both sides of this line and I was just as prideful with the old, dusty boots, as I was with shiny new boots that never made it out of an office building.

The "Joys" of Adulting
As I'm sure anyone reading this (assuming you're around your mid-20's and older) would know, being an adult is incredibly rough. It looked fun when we were kids, but really, it's just more stress and hassle and I don't know about y'all... But I've been finding myself doing more and more things that I really don't want to do just to get by in my life. When did being an adult go from being fun to being stressfully depressing? Why can't anything as an adult be as easy as most of our parents made it look? Well, I might not have all the answers to those questions... Ok, I don't really have an answer at all for those. But here's what I do have: Hope. And in a world where having Hope is the most useful thing you can have, I'm here to tell you how to keep that spark alive.

Thankfulness in 2020
Here we are in the year 2020 and it has been a tough year for everyone in the world. The world has changed as we know it and some have chosen to accept it and some chose to fight it, but whichever route you are on right now everyone has something to be thankful. So what am I thankful for? Well, I am thankful for a few things like my family, my co-workers, my job and lastly my health.

2020 is NOT a Bad Year
As this year is coming to a close in the next month or so, I've been reflecting on everything that has taken place. There's been many downs, we can all agree. But there's also been some tremendous, very significant ups that I think, as a collective, we all may not be acknowledging and allowing these ups to carry us into the next year with smiles and happy feelings.
